Possible HA/Switch-Over Scenarios?
Hi all
a customer of us has bought 2 identical hardware systems and wants to run his productive instance on one of these. There is no VM or SAN technology involved, but of course a SMB/NFS storage exists. It's planned to setup NW703/EHP6 on Windows 2012 R2 with Oracle 11.2.0.4.
His idea is to use the second hardware in a worst case scenario as switch-over host. He accepts a maximum downtime of 2-4 hours and expects the data of 2-4 hours ago (so we can't use the DB backup created 23hours ago)
The client does not want a MSCS solution because he has bad experience with MS Cluster.
My question is:
What technical possibilities do we have to achieve this?
Currently we focus on Oracle Data Guard to setup a standby database
I have no clue of Oracle Data Guard, so please be forgiving of the following assumptions.
What I read is that DataGuard fulfills the requirement from an oracle perspective and has other benefits (like create db-backup from standby-db...). I still don't know if new brtools or plain Oracle-DataGuard technology will be better.
But what about the SAP perspective? What about kernel-patches/Secure Store/connected BW/SRM-Systems in a worst case?
What about other alternatives?

ADS functionality - not able to generate PDF
Hello All,
I used program FP_PDF_TEST_00 to test if ADS is configured fine. It is ok.
But when i run FP_PDF_ERRORMESSAGE_TEST ( Test Program: Readable Error Message ), it shows an exception which is what i assume is the reason for the PDF not generating.
This is the exception:

Please help me solve this issue.

SAP NW 7.40: no display of bind variables in explain
Hi,
the last days i faced the problem that i can't display the bind variables in the execution plan in systems that running SAP Netweaver 7.40.
I push the button "Bind Variablen" and get the message "An SQL-Error is occured: 936".
Looking into sm21 i see this "> ORA-00936: missing expression"
Looking into the trace file of this workprocess i see this:

There is something missing between the "AND" and the "ORDER BY".
I've recognized this in our own development systems and some SAPM systems of our clients. So i expect it may be a general problem.
Can anyone confirm that she/he has the problem or confirm that the bind variable can be displayed in their System ?

Prerequisite checks failed. Missing - libstdc++43 & libgcc43

I have an issue - the issue came under the prerequisite check of Oracle upgrade.
We ran this command ./RUNINSTALLER -check , but it failed. It says 2 lib files are missing and this is not fixable.
Any help on this?

Exadata critical objects
Hy
We have a BW system 7.31 Sp4 with oracle Exadata 11.2.0.3.
We have a problem in tablespace PSAPSR3 size 5,8tera with 323Gb free space.
Even though we added 32GB datafile ..after some period we have a critical objects problem on this tablespace.
How can we manage the tablespace to avoid this problem with so much free space available?
The problem happens above all in /BIC/* and /BI0/* tables.

System copy export/import tablesapce psapsr3620 doesn't exits
Hi Guys ,
During the system copy IMPORT I have faced error (Ora-00959 sap tablesapce psapsr3620 doesn't exits ) but this tablespace exists in the source system.
Last time I have bypassed the error by changing the DDLORA.TPL and DDLORA_LRG.TPL files with psapsr3620 to 700 and re - run the system copy it was successful
But this time I'm facing the same issue I tried as above method it's not working . . any inputs ?

How to uncatalog a failed RMAN FULL Backup
Hello,
if a brbackup RMAN FULL Backup fails, somewhere is tracked that the
attempt was made to do a FULL backup.
If you try to do a brbackup with INCR afterwards it fails.

BR0520I Please start a full database backup (level 0) first
Instead of doing a full backup I'd like to tell brbackup to do an
INCR backup while taking the last successfull FULL backup as a base
and not the failed one.
I already did an uncatalog of the failed backup pieces using native rman
and erased the entry from backSID.log, but brbackup still keeps track
somewhere else and seems to be able to query other tables (SDBA* ?)
to know that the attempt "(level 0) bebovmuj.fnr" has been made.
Any Idea how to get rid of the information concerning the unsuccessfull attempt?

Background jobs getting stuck in Ready Status
Hi,
We are currently experiencing an issue with certain background jobs being scheduled/triggered but then getting stuck in ready status and not processing when it gets to their start time.
When they get stuck in ready status we can see in sm37 that the executing server is always the application server.
Our central server is a unix system and our application server(s) are windows both running on the oracle db hosted on the central server.
The jobs that are getting stuck are both technical (RDDIMPDP, SAP_COLLECTOR_PERFMON etc) and user triggered jobs.
I've noticed that sometimes we receive messages stating 'unable to connect to oracle' which im assuming is related as these seem to have picked up with the increase in stuck jobs.
and in work process logs these messages keep appearring:

does anyone have an idea of where to look to resolve this?
We have looked at sap note 1902517 and tried various values for parameters SQLNET.SEND_TIMEOUT & SQLNET.RECV_TIMEOUT but they have not resolved this. Since upgrading our kernel and support packs on the system it seems to have worsened in our dev environment too (where these parameters were changed).
The only way to get round this is to go in sm37 and start the job off manually but it is too much time to do this for every stuck job.

All memory related parameters are same as before.
Plz help.
Termination occurred in the ABAP program "SAPLTMSC" - in
"TMS_CI_START_SERVICE".
The main program was "SAPMSSY1 ".
In the source code you have the termination point in line 1
of the (Include) program "LTMSCU11".

we successfully implemented SSFS. We also set the parameter SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES from NTS to NONE.
After this we are not able to start DB automatically via MMC.
Is this a known error?

Iam installing Net weaver 7.4 SR2 on Windows Server2013R2 machine with orcale database.
My master password consist of @ symbol,
I was stuck in the Middle of installation of Perform oracle Post load Step.
During this step installation is throwing an error , i checked br connect.log file , the log file is as below

i stoped and closed the sapinst and other sap process.
