Upgrading 10.2 to 11.2 use of Shared Home

$

Hi All,

According to sap note 1778431 - SAP Installations using Shared Oracle Homes we can make use of Oracle Shared Home.

However it talks about fresh installations of SAP.

Can I during the upgrade of 10.2 to 11.2 switch to use Oracle Shared Home?

What would I need to do to accomplish this?

I'm trying to kill 2 birds here so to make it easier when we upgrade to 12c and to make patching/maintenance easier plus regain some disk space as a result.

Thanks

Craig

Is there an easy way to implement many SAP Oracle Parameters specified in SAP Note?

$

Hi,

Beginner here.

I am executing tasks as part of the SAP system post-installation process for a single-stackJava AS. I need to update Oracle parameters based on a few SAP Notes ((1431798, 1171650, 1519872). When I open these notes there are many parameters and the list of set and "do not set!" is somewhat convoluted. I downloaded the note to my local drive by selecting "Download" but I don't see how I can use this file without reformatting the whole thing to proper SQL commands.

My question is: is there any easy, fast way of implementing these parameters versus... going to sqlplus, alter system etc. etc. ?

I have Oracle 11g, SAP version 7.4+

Thanks!

Hi All,

We are performing SAP JVM patch update in a clustered environment . We have 2 clustered DB nodes in oracle RAC clusterware and SCS instance is in the cluster. We are using SUM SP12 to update the JVM patch from4.1.0.37 to 57. We have reached downtime phase now and we need some clarifications and per-requisites that needs to be done for a cluster environment.Would like to know how to disable the autofailover of SCS instances in oracle RAC clusterware ??  how we can handle the maintenance mode in oracle RAC ?? is there are steps to disable auto failover and disable auto restart of SCS instance in other node ??

Kindly advise on this .

Thanks,

Hi Team,

Someone accidently triggered SAP connect job  in our quality environment. We have canceled job within 2 minutes. Now we are in process of finding the emails which got sent due to this job. When I goto SOST and serch sent transmission it is showing send date only which is the date when message was created.  and showing the exact date of transmission.

When I Double click on status it gives me transmission date and time. Is there any table from where I can find exact time when the mail got send from system.

Right now i tried to run brconnect as <sid>adm on the databaseserver and i got the following error:

>>>>> brconnect -u // -c -f check

BR0801I BRCONNECT 7.40 (21)

BR1528E Calling a function of library rsec5lib failed at location BrSsBrUsrPwdGet-2, return code 1

BR0280I BRCONNECT time stamp: 2016-03-08 10:44:47

BR0804I BRCONNECT terminated with errors

And now my question.

I read about creating some directories in this post SSFS Implementation for Oracle Database

Create necessary directories

  1. K sidadm

cd /usr/sap/SID/SYS/global

mkdir /usr/sap/SID/SYS/global/security

mkdir /usr/sap/SID/SYS/global/security/rsecssfs

mkdir /usr/sap/SID/SYS/global/security/rsecssfs/data

mkdir /usr/sap/SID/SYS/global/security/rsecssfs/key

But this is only on the application server i think. But what about the ExaData?

brconnect looked for the .DAT file in the following directory:

/oracle/<SID>/security/rsecssfs/data

And this is because $SAPDATA_HOME is set /oracle/<SID>

Is correct up to here?

So which user should create the following directories (oracle, <SID>adm or ora<SID>):

/oracle/<SID>/security

/oracle/<SID>/security/rsecssfs

/oracle/<SID>/security/rsecssfs/data

/oracle/<SID>/security/rsecssfs/key

And which permissions should they have?!

I also tried to copy the existing SSFS_<SID>.DAT from /usr/sap/SID/SYS/global/security/rsecssfs/data to /oracle/<SID>/security/rsecssfs/data with user oracle and also with <SID>adm. Then i go the following error message:

>>>>>>> brconnect -u // -c -f check

BR0801I BRCONNECT 7.40 (21)

BR1528E Calling a function of library rsec5lib failed at location BrSsBrUsrPwdGet-2, return code 1

BR1301E Error message from rsec5lib: SSFS-4218: Record with key "BR_TOOLS/DEFAULT_DB_USER" not found in secure storage <-- SSFS-4215: Data file "/oracle/<SID>/security/rsecssfs/data/SSFS_<SID>.DAT" exists, but does not contain the requested entry

BR1529E Getting BR*Tools user name/password from secure storage /oracle/<SID>/security/rsecssfs/data/SSFS_<SID>.DAT failed

BR0806I End of BRCONNECT processing: cesrhrmr.log 2016-03-08 11:01:57

BR0280I BRCONNECT time stamp: 2016-03-08 11:01:57

BR0804I BRCONNECT terminated with errors

Did someone had the same problem and what would be the solution for this?!

Sascha

Hi experts,

After I upgraded my system Oracle 11g to Oracle 12c I have the error ORA-04031 every week,

Errors in file I:\ORACLE\PRO\SAPTRACE\diag\rdbms\pro\pro\trace\pro_arc2_8028.trc  (incident=530484):

ORA-04031: unable to allocate 352 bytes of shared memory ("shared pool","unknown object","sga heap(3,0)","krsdicle")

Errors in file I:\ORACLE\PRO\SAPTRACE\diag\rdbms\pro\pro\trace\pro_arc0_14736.trc  (incident=514716):

ORA-04031: unable to allocate  bytes of shared memory ("","","","")

I have to stop the database and started again... I increase the parameter shared_pool_size but only work one-two days more...

What could be the problem? I have a server with 64GB and the parameters are:

_enable_shared_pool_durations        boolean     FALSE

shared_pool_reserved_size            big integer 405600K

shared_pool_size                     big integer 5G

sga_max_size                         big integer 32G

memory_target                        big integer 0

pga_aggregate_limit                  big integer 12G

Any idea?

Thanks in advance,

EKPO huge data even after having data archive

Our SAP ECC6 launched on 2013-07 and do data archive regularly.

However, the EKPO table size keeps rising all the time, current table size: 21.25GB, number of records: 20,101,749.

I found there are still plenty of history records, with the SQL statement :

SELECT COUNT(*) FROM SAPPRD.EKPO WHERE AEDAT BETWEEN '20160101' AND '20161231'

I found:

2015, no. of history reco: 9,722,328, 48.37% of the total no. of records.
2014, 4,486,634, 22.32% 2013-07 to 2013-12: 2,201,581, 10.95%
2013-01 to 2013-06: 1,403,960, 6.98%

I would like to know:

1. T-code OLME, 'Purchase order', 'Define Tolerance Limit for Archiving',

2. The Residence Time 1 of all the Purchase Doc Types are : 90.

3. The Residence Time 2 of all the Purchase Doc Types are : 30.
4. Why there are so many history records in EKPO even we do SAP data archive regularly?

Any ideal?

I am expecting your answers.

Thanks a lot.

SAP install on an existing Oracle database

$

We are trying to install SAP using SWPM on an existing Oracle database. We don't want SAP installer to create the database, but use an existing Oracle database instead. The custom parameters in the installer prompt for DBSID, but there is no way to input ORACLE_HOME. Our approach is to install oracle binaries as 'oracle' user on a separate ORACLE_HOME (for example /opt/oracle/product/db/12102) and then create a database and have SAP installer to point to that database to create tablespaces, schema etc., and then load the objects. It looks like SAP installer assumes that the ORACLE_HOME is /oracle/<SID>/121 and throws an error that it couldn't talk to the database.

Has anyone used this approach of installing SAP on an existing Oracle database? If so, are there any specific environment related parameters that need to be set to make this work?

Appreciate your help on this.

Multiple instance in Oracle RAC ASM

Dear Experts,

We have a oracle RAC ASM with two SAP db instance currently running. We are now planning to install another db instance on it. The database instance already exist are XX1, YY1 & we are planning to install ZZ1.

So my question is during ZZ1 installation what are the points I have to take notice so that it will not effect the others in the RAC. In sapinst in the below option which we have to select, whether i have to select MCOD or Install database (recreate if exist)

222.jpg

For Oracle_HOME for grid I have to share the same location of grid which I choose for other instances or something different

222.jpg

In the RAC parameters I gave the SID of the new system ZZ1

Kindly advise.

On checking the event viewer logs we found that on the same time backup fails it gives below warning in system log :

The IO operation at logical block address 7c3a310 for Disk 1 was retried.

We have restarted SAP application, Database and even rebooted the server but it didnt resolve the issue. We refer note 2031239 but it is not applicable in our case.

BR Backup log is attached.

Please suggest.

Hello I want to add a Sap-user into the database (on unix).

I created the user registry on USR01, USR02 and UST04 tables, I can log-in with the new user but the profiles are not charged.

I think thet I shuold put a new entry in the USR04 table, but on sqlplus I can´t find this table. Can somebody tell me where can I find this table?

Thanks in advance.

Angel
