We have System A with newly upgraded to EHP7

SAP kernel 741_REL

DB  Oracle 11.2.0.4

OS Linux RHEL 6.0

We have another System B with EHP6

SAP kernel 721_REL

DB  Oracle 11.2.0.2

OS Linux RHEL 5.3

Now We  want system B as a copy of A .We will upgrade OS and DB at a same level as System A has. So can we gonfor homogeneous system copy?

I am not understanding how we can get EHP7 on system B.

Or will SWPM(software provisioning manager) can do system copy with SAP component copy?

Please suggest

Impact of change of IP address in SAP system

  Dear Experts ,

There is a requirement that we need to change the IP address of two of our systems , But we are unaware of the implication of the changing the IP address of the systems,

1) One is Our Ecc development Server.

2) Second is BI-DEV system , which is on the Same Host on which ECC- DEV system is.

3) Another one is our Solution Manager system.

Please through some light , what kind of change we need to bring in our system, and where we need to change the description of our systems.

Hello Every one,

I have 2 scenarios which I need to mve the statistics across different DB instances

first one : to use the production statistics in performance instance for performance testing.

second : to offload the statistics collection load from the production to another standby cloned DB.

I did use brspace with mstats function to export the statistics but actually I cannot find where these statistics are exported?

and how to move them to other instance ?

BRTools Backup

Hi,

Currently I am backing up my AIX Oracle DB 11g for system refresh.

These are the steps that I have done so far,

*Few notations that I use are SSID (SourceSID) TSID (TargetSID)

I also taking backup to a shared drive, connected to AIX as CIFS connection.

     in the CIFS connection this is the pattern that I followed.

          shared_drive/Backup        ---> for backup_root_dir & stage_root_dir

          shared_drive/Redologs      ---> for archive_copy_dir & archive_stage_dir

The following steps I am doing in the Source system (which I am taking the backup from)

1) create control file (alter database backup controlfile to TRACE as '/tmp/SSID.ctrl' ; )

2) copy out control file to pc

3) rename system name to TSID , change the line:

CREATE CONTROLFILE REUSE DATABASE ‘SSID’ NORESETLOGS ARCHIVELOG;

as follow

CREATE CONTROLFILE REUSE SET DATABASE ‘TSID’ RESETLOGS ARCHIVELOG;

4) backup and replace initSID.sap in source system to use share drive as backup by changing following parameters:

backup_type = offline

backup_dev_type = disk

backup_root_dir = Create Backup Folder and provide their path like   "shared_drive/Backup"

stage_root_dir = Copy Same Path which you have given to back_root_dir

archive_copy_dir = Create Redologs Folder & Provide their path like  "shared_drive/Redologs"

archive_stage_dir = Copy Same Path which you have given to archive_copy_dir

5) use brtools to backup source database

6) backup and replace initSID.sap in target system to use share drive as restore by changing folllowing parameters:

backup_type = offline

backup_dev_type = disk

backup_root_dir = Create Backup Folder and provide their path like   "shared_drive/Backup"

stage_root_dir = Copy Same Path which you have given to back_root_dir

archive_copy_dir = Create Redologs Folder & Provide their path like  "shared_drive/Redologs"

archive_stage_dir = Copy Same Path which you have given to archive_copy_dir

So in the above steps a few questions,

In step 3 should I change the whole document from SSID to TSID? I mean to say all the files that are pointing to SSID should be changed to TSID or BRTools will take care of that?

Also the backup is going to take 3days?? So does the same steps apply if I am going to do for online backup?

create index not in customer index

Hi,

I have to create the index "010" for table N1VKG in our development system as described in note 1874216.

If you want to create or change the delivered secondary indexes in advance, you must proceed as follows:

  • Call transaction SE11.
  • Enter N1VKG  in the "Database Table" input field and choose "Change".
  • Click the "Indexes..." pushbutton.
    • Click the "Create Index" pushbutton.
    • Enter 010 in the "Index Identification" field.
    • Click the "Continue (Enter)" pushbutton.
    • In the #Short Description# field enter the text "Entry Date Only".
    • Enter the following fields in this sequence in the "Field Name" column: MANDT, ERDAT
    • Click the "Activate" pushbutton

But I cannot create the index "010" because "Index N1VKG-010 is not in the customer namespace".

How could I create this index?

Thanks

standby redo logs configuration

Hi,

          I have successfully configured data guard configuration with a primary database and two standby databases.The log switching,switch-over,etc features are fine.

          Now i have configured data broker successfully.In data broker i am trying to enable fast start fail-over feature,which is prompting for LogXptMode to be either 'SYNC' or 'ASYNC'.But setting LogXptMode='SYNC' or 'ASYNC' requires configuration of standby redo logfiles.So i have added standby redo logfiles,but the same were not getting reflected when i am viewing from database.

          Any one who has experience with oracle data broker or standby redo log configuration please suggest me necessary actions to be taken.

Move Central Instance to Another Server

Hello expert,

Now we have a distributed system: CI on server 1, DB on server 2. Now we want to move the CI to another server 3 without change the DB server.

We get some information from link Move the central instance to another server in SAP

We have few questions:

1. Can we change the SID of CI with method provided in link?

2. Any other additional steps should we do?

Thanks & Best Regards,

Receiving cdmp_time stamp dump directories

Hi,

We are having some issue with oracle logs/dumps files in our BW system. We have noticed that our BW system is creating cdmp* directory at below location.

/oracle/BWQ/saptrace/diag/rdbms/bwq/BWQ/trace

These cdmp* directories again contains other trace files which are not much useful.

These cdmp* directories are getting created of around 50+MB, which is making FS full.

We have found that these are created due to user processes, but not sure. And these can be purged with below command.

adrci> purge -age 4320 -type UTSCDMP   (delete dumps older than 3 days / 1440*3).

My requirement is how can we stop generating these dump directories, As this is happening only in our QA system, other systems are not affected with these dump files.

We have found below parameters which seems to be relevant but not getting proper details on it.

Kindly suggest if you have any thoughts on this.

FYI, SAP BW version is Nw 7.02 and Oracle version is 11g

Kiraang.

Oracle audit parameter

$

Hello,

auditor complained settings of audit parameters in oracle 11, especially audit_sys_operations=FALSE and audit_syslog_level=' '.

I found notes 1551504, 700548, 1963700, 1128663 etc with informations about technical configuration.

But I didn't found notes or links about the recommended setting by SAP and by advisors. Sometimes these recomendations differ, so that advisors recommend stronger security settings.

What are recommended settings for these audit parameters? Is it better to log auditfiles in database? Do logs have to be reported to the UNIX-syslog? And what is a good way to secure auditfiles in a folder, so that dbauser can still access for reading or creating?

MOPatch bpmig.sh Structural Changes in SAP Bundle Patches

Structural Changes in SAP Bundle Patches New!

As of June 2014, there is a change in the internal structure of the SAP Bundle Patches (SBPs) for Oracle. While this has many benefits, applying the new SBP for the first time requires special handling. For more information, see the hot news SAP Note 2011199.

When looking at note 2011199 I found due to the changed structure and to identify stand alone patches it is recommended to run the bpmig.sh script.

To avoid these problems or to detect them before actually installing this SBP, you must run the bundle patch migration script bpmig which is delivered with MOPatch 2.1.16 and later.

The script comes up with an error message:

Cannot determine SBP version from "SAP Bundle Patch 11.2.0.3.2 - 201205".

opatch / mopatch semselfs seems to function properly...

Any clues?
