Oracle Upgrade from 10g to 11g [BRANCHED BY MODERATOR]

Hi Deepak/Folks,

Another question that I have is that while doing the Oracle Upgrade on an EP server, the patches were not installed properly and I had to shut down the Patches installation after it did not do anything for a while.

Now when I try to install the patches it fails telling me that the Installed patches cannot be verified, I had written to SAP and they told me to follow the

SAP note 1862446 - Inventory

load failed... OPatch cannot load inventory for the given Oracle Home

and re-create the oracle  inventory.

This has also not helped in anyway.

Is there a solution to this problem.

Hello Every one,

I have 2 scenarios which I need to mve the statistics across different DB instances

first one : to use the production statistics in performance instance for performance testing.

second : to offload the statistics collection load from the production to another standby cloned DB.

I did use brspace with mstats function to export the statistics but actually I cannot find where these statistics are exported?

and how to move them to other instance ?

BRTools Backup

$

0

Hi,

Currently I am backing up my AIX Oracle DB 11g for system refresh.

These are the steps that I have done so far,

*Few notations that I use are SSID (SourceSID) TSID (TargetSID)

I also taking backup to a shared drive, connected to AIX as CIFS connection.

     in the CIFS connection this is the pattern that I followed.

          shared_drive/Backup        ---> for backup_root_dir & stage_root_dir

          shared_drive/Redologs      ---> for archive_copy_dir & archive_stage_dir

The following steps I am doing in the Source system (which I am taking the backup from)

1) create control file (alter database backup controlfile to TRACE as '/tmp/SSID.ctrl' ; )

2) copy out control file to pc

3) rename system name to TSID , change the line:

CREATE CONTROLFILE REUSE DATABASE ‘SSID’ NORESETLOGS ARCHIVELOG;

as follow

CREATE CONTROLFILE REUSE SET DATABASE ‘TSID’ RESETLOGS ARCHIVELOG;

4) backup and replace initSID.sap in source system to use share drive as backup by changing following parameters:

backup_type = offline

backup_dev_type = disk

backup_root_dir = Create Backup Folder and provide their path like   "shared_drive/Backup"

stage_root_dir = Copy Same Path which you have given to back_root_dir

archive_copy_dir = Create Redologs Folder & Provide their path like  "shared_drive/Redologs"

archive_stage_dir = Copy Same Path which you have given to archive_copy_dir

5) use brtools to backup source database

6) backup and replace initSID.sap in target system to use share drive as restore by changing folllowing parameters:

backup_type = offline

backup_dev_type = disk

backup_root_dir = Create Backup Folder and provide their path like   "shared_drive/Backup"

stage_root_dir = Copy Same Path which you have given to back_root_dir

archive_copy_dir = Create Redologs Folder & Provide their path like  "shared_drive/Redologs"

archive_stage_dir = Copy Same Path which you have given to archive_copy_dir

So in the above steps a few questions,

In step 3 should I change the whole document from SSID to TSID? I mean to say all the files that are pointing to SSID should be changed to TSID or BRTools will take care of that?

Also the backup is going to take 3days?? So does the same steps apply if I am going to do for online backup?

ORA-1555 during db export - LOB

$

Hello,

I'm facing ora-1555 during database export of 10.2.0.2 database which has around 900 GB of data.

This error occurs 3 times, in these tables:

SIXMLTST

ECSCR_XSD

REPOSRC

All tables contain RAWSTRING field.

First two are really small tables which contain XML and XSD data. Around 300 and 1000 records, both sizes smaller than 1 MB.

REPOSRC has approx.  2.5 mil. records and 2.2 GB in size.

I tried to resume export twice, always with same result. Export was run with SAP system down, last time I tried it with system up, but with no change.

I also read lot of information online, yet I don't know how to proceed. Especially because of error when processing such small tables so it looks like it is not an insufficient space issue - which is often discussed.

system has oracle parameters set:

undo_management = auto

undo_retention = 0

undo_tablespace = PSAPUNDO

PSAPUNDO has 111 GB and it is empty.

This is full error message:

DbSl Trace: OCI-call 'OCILobRead' failed with rc=1555
DbSl Trace: ORA-1555 occurred when reading from a LOB
(EXP) ERROR: DbSlLobGetPiece failed  rc = 99, table "SIXMLTST"  (SQL error 1555)  error message returned by DbSl:
ORA-01555: snapshot too old: rollback segment number  with name "" too small
ORA-22924: snapshot too old
(DB) INFO: disconnected from DB

Could you help me to fix this issue?

Is it possible to continue somehow without need to run export from scratch?

Martin

1856270 - Performance improvements for tables with single unique index

$

Hallo.

I applied the note for 8 tables on my SAP ECC system to change them in IOTC object.

If I search the segment, on DB02, I don't see the original segment.

For example: table ZORI_MAT_DET

I found only the index on DB02 ZORI_MAT_DET~0 larger than before reorganization.

Is it right?

Thanks.

Oracle Memory Setup during SAPINST

$
0
0

Hi Guys,

Im actually performing an Unicode Migration, therefore Original system is deleted and then a new system is installed with R3load

My main question focus on how SAPINST, distributes Oracle memory when during Database Steps, you setup a memory value in Mb

The actual Oracle DB 11.2.0.3 has these values

Total System Global Area             2339151872 bytes

Fixed Size                                   2161424 bytes

Variable Size                               2248148208 bytes

Database Buffers                          67108864 bytes

Redo Buffers                                 21733376 bytes

Actual Hardware specs

SunOS bwp 5.10 Generic_142900-14 sun4u sparc SUNW,SPARC-Enterprise

root@bwp # prtconf |head -3 |grep Mem

prtconf: devinfo facility not available

Memory size: 81920 Megabytes

This new Upgraded system is a Netweaver 740 Business Intelligence, according to Note 1431798 - Oracle 11.2.0: Database Parameter Settings

For OLAP systems PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET should be around 40% of available Memory from SGA

and sga_max_size is currently set to 2240M

pga_aggregate_target  1932736000

SAP System is CI+DB and has 25 Dialog WP and 5 Update, and user concurrence in around 40 users

So, if I have 80GB total memory on the server, how much should I predefine during SAPInst to get similar values as recommended by SAP?

Is the 70% SAP /30% DB memory rule applicable to a BW system?

Any hint on how to better determine this values would be highly appreciated.

Best

Martin

Hello,

We are currently installing a distributed NW 7.31 system with Oracle RAC on ASM.

I don't know why the SWPM asks for the spfile if this is a fresh installation. The only file that exists is initISP.ora

Perhaps SWPM was supposed to create an spfile<SID>.ora from init<SID>.ora?

I hope someone out there has encountered this before

Hi ,

To read the SAPOSCOL information of DB system ( distributed environment) from SAP Applicaiton, I have created the SAPOSCOL destination SAPCCMSR.<<Hostname>>.99 with below utility

/sapmnt/<SID>/exe/sapccmsr -R pf=/usr/sap/tmp/sapccmsr/sapccmsr.pfl

However, I cannot use this to read OS information when system is running on standby database.

I have searched lot and gone through many links to setup destination for standby DB OS information and no luck.

Can any one help me by providing some information how to setup destination.

  Hi all,

I have a question ,

We have scheduled redo log backup using HP DP Tool.

When I am reading a backup log from DB13 , I am facing the weird behavior.

copy, delete, save0000aeomzyok.cds
copy, delete, save0001aeomzyoh.cds

Where ever the RC is 000 I am able to read the log files available at OS level . But not able to read the log for other RC.

Please help me to understand this

Thanks,

Gnana

I applied the note on production system : 1856270 - Performance improvements for tables with single unique index, so SDBAD table has been converted to IOT.

Now, when I execute CheckDB from DB13 I obtain :

BR0280I BRCONNECT time stamp: 2014-08-12 18.00.38

BR0301W SQL error -1400 at location rz20_info_save-11, SQL statement:

ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ("SAPSR3"."SDBAD"."SYSID")

Could you help me?

Thanks.

Hi Gurus,

In DB02 / Diagnostics displays that following tables are missing:

- SFHOT

- T77TNM_IFPROPS

- YINFTOOL

I found some sap notes how to solve the issue, but was not able to.

1. What are these tables.

2. Do I need them, if NOT which tables can be deleted, and how exactly

3. Required tables ho can I create them

Pl. give exact instructions

- ZZCON_TEMP            (Tried to delete in SE14 / SE11) could not delete.

Pl. advse how to solve the issue, thanks for your help in advance.
