We have an issue in the online backup which causes a very high CPU  consumption in the system .

Which invariable causes the system to be rebooted as it gets hung.

We have Oracle 11g with RHEL 5.7 in the SAP environment.

We are using RMAN to take the full as well as incremental backup with the TSM as a backup server.

The backup has been running fine for over the year since we implemented RMAN .

See below the screencap for the CPU usage during the time the backup runs:

We have no idea why triggering the online FULL backup causes the high CPU consumption,Any advise would be appreciated.

I have a problem in our system, caused by two update process that were running from April, 1st. These two processes collapsed the rest of update process, and there was a large list of erroneous update request. The problem was solved killing those process.

The kernel version is EHP6 FOR SAP ERP 6.0 720 Sup.Pkg lvl. 500

During the system copy IMPORT I have faced error (Ora-00959 sap tablesapce psapsr3620 doesn't exits ) but this tablespace exists in the source system.

Last time I have bypassed the error by changing the DDLORA.TPL and DDLORA_LRG.TPL  files with psapsr3620 to 700 and re - run the system copy it was successful

But this time I'm facing the same issue I tried as above method   it's not working . . any inputs ?

Could you know about SAP notes or guides of classification of SAP main tables?

I want to know which tables are for master data(or transaction data).

In our database, the mapping of tables and dataclass are incorrect.

Some SAP main tables are mapped to add-on's dataclasses.

Now I try to re-map these tables and I can find page of below, in sap help web site.

Data Class (SAP Library - Tables)

However, I can't know which tables are for master data(or transaction data) correctly.

I know that some personal site provide  useful information, but if possible I want know information of official information by SAP.

Hi all,

I found tables that not assigned dataclass in database of our ERP system.

When I saw DD09L table, many tables(they are not add-onn tables) have no datalclass data.

When I executed "Tr-cd:SE14" , I also found tables which have no dataclass data.

I think that normally, all tables in sap are assigned to some　kind of dataclass.

Do you know whether this is a specification of sap?

We did Online DB table reorg in the production system and it reduced 152GB at table level but not refelected in the os level. During this

activity we added 300GB to the tablespaces to perform the DB reorg and

increased the DB size from 3.4 TB to 4 TB

Our intention is to reduce the space at file system level.

Please confirm what steps we need to perform in order to release space

at filesystem level

1) By doing offline reorg at Tablespace level

2) By doing export/import database using system copy methods

3) By doing shrinking the database after completing online table rerog

(online/offline)

Whenever our link between Primary and DR site goes down we face this issue,  Our DR configured on Max availability

We register /apply missing redo log

Primary -

alter system set log_archive_dest_state_2=defer scope = both sid = 'EC6'

Standby

SQL>ALTER DATABASE  RECOVER  MANAGED  STANDBY  DATABASE  CANCEL;

SQL> ALTER DATABASE REGISTER LOGFILE 'G:\oracle\EC6\oraarch\EC6ARCHARC00637_0747680046.001';

in case redo sequence number 637 is missing.

when we ENABLE from Defer on Primary we execute below on Standby

ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE THROUGH ALL SWITCHOVER DISCONNECT USING CURRENT LOGFILE;

Though missing 637 redo log file is getting registered it is not getting applied, STATUS it is showing NO

When I Shutdown Standby it is not Shutting down with Shutdown immediate command, waited for around 30 min.

When I stop the service OracleServiceSID on Standby, we are getting BLUE Dump error on Primary.  we need to Hard boot Primary.  After starting servers, both works fine.

Pls help us so that we need not stop the OracleServiceSID, log automatically get apply after

at preset we have all data files on files systems we are planing to migrate ASM based environment

1. is ASM right solution for this size

2. can we use system copy backup/restore method to convert into ASM (RMAN backup)

We are planning to reorg the SXMSCLUP table in our PI SAP System.

System details are :

SAP Netweaver 7, SAP PI 7.0, Oracle 10G, Suse Linux

The table size is approx 61 GB with 5 GB index and Corresponding LOB Segment is around 400 GB.

I want to calculate the space required to reorg the tables. There is around 70 GB free space in Tablespce where the table SXMSCLUP belong.

Is it sufficient space to reorg the table.

I have also concern about LOBSEGMENT. Does Oracle also reorg/shrink the correspond LOB segment during the reorg of table.

If yes then which tablespace it use(e.g: PSAPTEMP), and how much approx space is needed.

Any help is appreciated.

Hello experts,

We have an issue where a process runs.  The process is simple and broken into two parts.  First part of the process, there is a selection that happens from table JEST.  The 2nd part, some logic is applied and updates happen in parallel to different tables.   The longest time of this whole process is the select statement.  Its as following:

  "MANDT"=:A0 AND "OBJNR"=:A1

This select seems efficient but ofcourse, we want it to happen even faster.  We sort the table from time to time,  we also have some archiving in place to address the size.  Still, considering this table has 2billion rows, we are looking at possibility of partitioning(possibly range partitioning on OBJNR). The table has 5 fields of which OBJNR is a key field.  We are thinking, partitioning would help even further.

does this seem like the right approach?

Also, we also looked into possibility of turning on parallel processing on this table but it was not recommended by SAP as that affects DML operations.  We are wondering if partitioning the table would let oracle process queries in parallel on this table by default?  Can anyone confirm?

My SAP ECC System is on Oracle 11g with RAC on ASM. I am taking the backup using DB13 with init<SID>.sap profile as attached.

I want to restore this backup on single node System with only ASM(no RAC). (ASM File system structure remains the same)

As per my finding and as per Note 1627541 - BR*Tools support for Oracle ASM and Exadata/ODA, it says use only BRRECOVER to restore the database.

Can anyone please assist me, in restoring the database. As in step by step commands or points to follow the restore.

We are running SAP ECC6 EhP5, Oracle 11.2.0.2, HP-UX 11.31 ia64

UNO_RETENTION = 21600

The size of the tablespace PSAPUNDO  is fixed (AUTOEXTENT=NO)

We have been running Oracle Undo Management features for year, without any problem ... until a few weeks ago.

We noticed a problem at the SAP level, with the sm12 locks not being released, it was a problem with the SAP enqueue server, and we have set the SAP parameter :

enque/deque_wait_answer = TRUE Wait for answer from enqueue server (synchronous)

We haven't done any other change, and certainly not changed any Oracle paramter

It solved our SAP sm12 problem , but now, after the ORacle/SAP restart we are observing a change in the ORacle Undo behaviour :

First :

After the restart, the tablespace PSAPUNDO is now constantly full, and extending the tablespace is of no effect.

I undersatnd that PSAPUNDO being full is not necesarily a problem, but in our case it is always full, we never had this before and the user activity has  not increased

We not frequently have severa loracle errors related to that tablespace : ora-1515,ora 30036, ora 1652 : jobs, dialog and update activities are cancelled

Second the Oracle views related to undo management do not work as they used to :

As you can see in the screenshot, the dba historical view of Undo management is no longer filled after the system restart.

As designed, there used to be one entry, generated every 10 minutes

There is now, one single entry in V$UNDOSTAT whic hshows a very low value for TUNED_AUTORETENTION : 4628 sec

We have checked ORacle paramters change history, absolutely no changes have been done.

We are really perplex :

What could cause the PSAPUNDO tablespace to be constantly full , all of a sudden , could it be the sap parameter enque/deque_wait_answer ?

What could cause the ORacle view V$UNDOSTAT to only keep one single entry ?

The size of the tablespace PSAPUNDO is fixed (AUTOEXTENT=NO), does that mean that the UNDO_RETENTION value is ignored ?
