A huge FAGLFLEXA

$

Hi,

We are running SAP ECC on Oracle Exadata in Oracle 11.2.0.4 database. The table FAGLFLEXA has reached a size of over 550 Gb and its 8 indexes reserve over 650 Gb.

Does anyone have experience with:

     1) a table partitioning in SAP

     2) SAP indexes on Exadata (are they all mandatory, are they any SAP rules and/or best practice for Exadata).

Many thanks for any hint!

High priority patches from Oracle

Hello,

We just migrated our SAP systems running on Oracle 11gr2 to new Hardware. Due to this our security team performed an audit of our system and the question of high priority patches came up. Specifically how does SAP handle high priority patches (database and OS) that are released from Oracle and is it possible to apply them immediately before SAP officially certifies them.

Thanks.

How to reduce the size of a tablespace and reclaim disk space

Hello, we have recently deleted a number of clients in our QA system and have a tablespace PSAPABA702X that is 112GB (5 datafiles) that is only 0.6% used.

What do you suggest to reduce the size of the tablespace and reclaim the unused space. This will have the added benefit of reduced our backup time as well.

Thanks

Oracle 12c - CHECKDB // BR0252E Function _stat64() failed

$

Hello guys,

I've setup our first 12c Oracle database and have some trouble with the brtools.

If I check the db via DB13 I get the following error message:

R0252E Function _stat64() failed for 'D:\oracle\oraclehome\PRD\12102' at location BrDiskStatGet-1
R0253E errno 2: No such file or directory
R0277E Determination of disk volume status for D:\oracle\oraclehome\PRD\12102 failed

To fix this issue I give SAPServicePRD user full rights to "D:\oracle" folder.

First I thought I missed something during the installation (Oracle / SAP), but in the last few days I installed the same system on a sandbox:

- one with an Oracle home user (oraclehome (D:\oracle\oraclehome\PRD))

- one with build in system user (D:\oracle\PRD (like 10g))

On both this issue is coming up in DB13.

So I checked some old installations (10g, 11g) and never find a "SAPServiceSID" user with read/write rights in the Oraclehome directory.

First few directory deeper (D:\oracle\<SID>\<version>\database) there are some groups more added (ORA_<SID>_OPER and ORA_<SID>_DBA) where both SAP users (<SID>adm and SAPService<SID>) are members of.

There is also no SAP note that describes this error (BR0252E Function _stat64() failed) just some other error messages, which has nothing to do with this error message. About one year earlier this error came up on SCN (CheckDB fail with BR0252E Function stat() failed) that also fixed it with giving SAPServiceSID full rights on oracle.

So, I don't get the it, why I should use an extra oracle user for installation and for the oracle home directory, but I have to give afterwards SAPServiceSID manually full rights to this directory.

Does someone has a working 12c environment and can tell me what permissions are set in the directories (x:\oracle; x:\oracle\oraclehome; x:\oracle\oraclehome\12102 and x:\oracle\oraclehome\12102\database)

Environment:

Oracle 12102

Windows 2012 R2

SAP ERP 605

Thank you!

Best regards,

Tobias

Restore online backup from Primary to DR server

Hi,

I'm on Oracle 10.2 Physical Data guard and restoring an online backup from Primary server to DR server. The online backup was taken on 30.11.2015 21:00:00 and finished at 01.12.2015 01:23:16. The first redo log when backup started is 60588 and the last redo log when the backup ends is 60596 according to the backup log. However it is asking beyond 60596 when doing recovery:

Does it mean 60598 is actually not required for recovery?

Any idea why it is asking for log after 60596?

How do I check what is the last redo log required to complete the recovery?

V$RECOVERY_LOG shows nothing.

Thank you.

Dear Experts, We have installed SAP ERP Quality Assurance on HP UX / Oracle platform. everything is going fine. our sizing is like below: File systems                Space(GB) /oracle/SID/saptrace         2 /oracle/SID/sapreorg         5 /oracle/SID/sapdata4         60 /oracle/SID/sapdata3         60 /oracle/SID/sapdata2         60 /oracle/SID/sapdata1         60 /oracle/SID/sapcheck         10 /oracle/SID/sapbackup 10 /oracle/SID/saparch         2 /oracle/SID/origlogB         0.5 /oracle/SID/origlogA         0.5 /oracle/SID/oraarch         40 /oracle/SID/mirrlogB         0.5 /oracle/SID/mirrlogA         0.5 /oracle/SID/112                 10 Now my query is is there any recommendation of ratio of Oracle directory file systems sizing ? If yes please let me know. Thanks Asad

brarchive goes crazy after OS upgrade (Win2k8r2sp1 > Win2k12r2)

Hi guys,

We are in the process to change our hardware and in the same breath with this we upgrade our DB Oracle from 11g to 12c and the OS from Win2k8r2 to Win2k12R2.

The first SAP system was a ERP 607 (FI) (brarchive 742.28) backup runs on Symantec BE11 and runs like a charm.

The second one is a NetWeaver 2004s (BW) (brarchive 721.600) backup runs on HP DataProtector 9.05 and here we have a strange problem:

brarchive starts normally, and creates the *.lst file correctly:

E:\oracle\PRD\oraarch\PRDarch\1_3912_898372107.DBF
E:\oracle\PRD\oraarch\PRDarch\1_3913_898372107.DBF
E:\oracle\PRD\oraarch\PRDarch\1_3914_898372107.DBF
E:\oracle\PRD\oraarch\PRDarch\1_3915_898372107.DBF

*.cds file:

\initPRD.utl -c.

On backup server side, the first brarchive job (copy and delete) is saving 16 redo logs is going to timeout, the second job (save) is also saving 16 redo logs get's a timeout and the third job (save config and log files) is saving 695 redo logs from 2.089 and on backup server side the third job get the signal that the job finished correctly!

So and now comes the very strange thing, brarchive saves the redo logs in a random way:

At the Moment, I don't have a second server that is on Win2k12R2 which I can backup on this backup server, so I cannot test another one.

There is no kernel update, or a DBA-Tools update, so I don't know which side (backup server or sap (brarchive)) produces this behavior!

Someone any idea, or has seen this issue before?

We want to install SAP on Oracle Database. but the thing here we want to achieve this by procuring the Oracle Developer License.

So can we install SAP Server by using Oracle Developer License DB.

Is it technically possible

Is this type of license is acceptable from SAP AG.

(new FileMgt()).getNode(cfgInitSidOra.toStringOS(), "true"

Hello,

Can you please suggest me something, this is the error from Provision Manager

An error occurred while processing option SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Support Release 3 > Software Life-Cycle Options > System Copy > Oracle > Target System Installation > Central System > Based on AS ABAP > Central System( Last error reported by the step: TypeError: (new FileMgt()).getNode(cfgInitSidOra.toStringOS(), "true") has no properties (in script NW_ABAP_OneHost|ind|ind|ind|ind, line 103435: ???)). You can now:

  • Choose Retry
    to repeat the current step.
  • Choose Log Files
to get more information about the error.
  • Stop the option and continue later.

Log files are written to C:\Program Files/sapinst_instdir/NW700/LM/COPY/ORA/SYSTEM/CENTRAL/AS-ABAP/.

I am doing a system copy from production to test. I did restored and recovered the database, now DB is opened. I ran control.sql script manually. Could it be this the cause of my error, cause I am at step "Oracle Backup/Restore database - control.sql"

Thank you for any suggestion

High priority patches from Oracle

Hello,

We just migrated our SAP systems running on Oracle 11gr2 to new Hardware. Due to this our security team performed an audit of our system and the question of high priority patches came up. Specifically how does SAP handle high priority patches (database and OS) that are released from Oracle and is it possible to apply them immediately before SAP officially certifies them.

Thanks.

Wrong filename of Archive Log files

Hello

I'm performing an Disaster Recovery test of my SAP/ORACLE DB.

In step 8 - Apply Archive log files, I have the problem that the system does not see my archive log files.

The reason is  that the brrestore is looking for files:

1_6739_879248014.DBF

My archive logs but are named:

SIDARCH1_6739_879248014.DBF

If I rename the archive files to 1_... (without SIDARCH), brrestore finds them.

I copied the init<SID>.ora from source system.

The parameters are correctly set:

*.log_archive_dest_1='LOCATION=F:\oracle\P01\oraarch\SIDARCH'

*.log_archive_format='%t_%s_%r.dbf'

Why is brrestore looking for the wrong file name?

Thanks and regards

Table import with R3trans very slow

$

Hi Colleagues,

Please help me to find the root cause of the very slow running table import with R3trans using control file.

The table contains about 5.5 million entries (rows) and it was exported from a prod. SAP system (running on Oracle 12c).

Now I am importing it with R3trans into the test system which is running also on Oracle 12c.

The size of the dump file is only 30 MB, so contains not huge amount of data.

Database is running on AIX 6.1 and server has 50 GB memory and 3 CPU.

I started the import 60 hours ago and only 2 million entries imported until now, so based on my calculation the whole import will takes 7 days

I also checked a smaller table which was already imported, and don't really understand the row: "Duration: 7:14:48 h (112 bytes/sec)".

4 ETW690 COMMIT "128000" "31488000"

4 ETW690 COMMIT "128000" "31616000"

4 ETW000 495833 entries for ZARIXCO001 inserted (___).

4 ETW690 COMMIT "117312" "31733312"

4 ETW675 end import of "              000000R3TRCNTDZARIXCO001".

4 ETW000   0 tables in P-buffer synchronized.

4 ETW000   0 tables in R-buffer synchronized.

4 ETW690 COMMIT "0" "31733312"

4 ETW000 2941540 bytes read.

4 ETW000 Transport overhead 0.0 %.

4 ETW000 Duration: 7:14:48 h (112 bytes/sec).

3 ETW710 "1" "1"

Is there any way to speed the import up?

I never saw such slow speed before.

Many thanks in advance for any help / clue / ideas.

Dear experts

We are upgraded to our oracle database from 10.2.0.5  to oracle 12.1.0.2  operating system Suse Linux enterprise 11SP4 and SAP kernel version 722EXT

( also upgrade Kernel from 701 SP 150 )our Abap version and Basis Version  is SAP_ABA    701    0010    SAPKA70110   and SAP_BASIS    701    0010    SAPKB70110 .

1. after upgrade oracle we have many dumps in st22 DDIC_TYPELENG_INCONSISTENT

2. is oracle 12c supported with ECC6.0 EHP1 ( Because as per sap document sap kernel version 7.1 EXT minimum require ) kindly also guide related to       our current sap version with oracle 12c.

we have to down times given by management for upgrade we are plan to upgrade our current sap to EHP7 ( EHP7 not supported to oracle 10.2 ) so this is mandatory to upgrade sap database with SSFS in step one we upgrade oracle database and implement SSFS authentication . then after one month we have 2nd down time then  we upgrade to EHP7.

Database check and update stats after Kernel upgrade

Hi All,

I know this is an old topic but still I wish to bring this in as I am unable to figure out by myself what the issue would be.

I did Kernel patch upgrade from 741 PL 15 to 110.

After that DB check and update stats are failing with the below log.

Job started

Step 001 started (program RSDBAJOB, variant &0000000000001, user ID DDIC)

Execute logical command BRCONNECT On host SAPHR

Parameters: -jid CHECK20150217024618 -u / -c -f check

BR0801I BRCONNECT 7.40 (12)

BR0805I Start of BRCONNECT processing: cepwngil.chk 2015-02-17 02:46:19

BR0252E Function fopen() failed for '/oracle/SID/sapcheck/cepwngil.chk' at location main-5

BR0253E errno 13: Permission denied

BR0121E Processing of log file /oracle/SID/sapcheck/cepwngil.chk failed

BR0806I End of BRCONNECT processing: cepwngil.chk2015-02-17 02:46:19

BR0280I BRCONNECT time stamp: 2015-02-17 02:46:19

BR0804I BRCONNECT terminated with errors

External program terminated with exit code 3

BRCONNECT returned error status E

Job finished

Anyhow after Kernel upgrade I ran saproot.sh so all the brtools exe's permissions were set right.

-rwsrwxr--    1 orasid   sapsys     13542030 Nov  1 15:47 brbackup

-rwsrwxr--    1 orasid   sapsys     13385793 Nov  1 15:47 brarchive

-rwxr-xr-x    1 sidadm   sapsys      6740867 Nov  1 15:32 brtools

Then after further troubleshooting found that SYSTEM password was locked which I found after triggering brconnect db check at Server level.

BR0801I BRCONNECT 7.40 (12)

BR0805I Start of BRCONNECT processing: cepwnoel.chk 2015-02-17 04:14:43

BR0484I BRCONNECT log file: /oracle/SID/sapcheck/cepwnoel.chk

'CONNECT system/*******'

ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied

BR0310E Connect to database instance SID failed

BR0280I BRCONNECT time stamp: 2015-02-17 04:14:50

BR0301E SQL error -1017 at location db_connect-3, SQL statement:

'CONNECT system/*******'

ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied

BR0310E Connect to database instance SID failed

BR0806I End of BRCONNECT processing: cepwnoel.chk 2015-02-17 04:14:47

BR0280I BRCONNECT time stamp: 2015-02-17 04:14:50

BR0804I BRCONNECT terminated with errors

So unlocked and updated the password thru brconnect below command.

brconnect -c -u / -p init%ORACLE_SID%.sap -f chpass -o SYSTEM -password new password

But still facing the issue as brconnect check DB command fails and locks the SYSTEM password.

Any suggestions would be very much valuable to me.

Please respond.

Thanks...
