Oracle 12c - CHECKDB // BR0252E Function _stat64() failed

$

Hello guys,

I've setup our first 12c Oracle database and have some trouble with the brtools.

If I check the db via DB13 I get the following error message:

R0252E Function _stat64() failed for 'D:\oracle\oraclehome\PRD\12102' at location BrDiskStatGet-1
R0253E errno 2: No such file or directory
R0277E Determination of disk volume status for D:\oracle\oraclehome\PRD\12102 failed

To fix this issue I give SAPServicePRD user full rights to "D:\oracle" folder.

First I thought I missed something during the installation (Oracle / SAP), but in the last few days I installed the same system on a sandbox:

- one with an Oracle home user (oraclehome (D:\oracle\oraclehome\PRD))

- one with build in system user (D:\oracle\PRD (like 10g))

On both this issue is coming up in DB13.

So I checked some old installations (10g, 11g) and never find a "SAPServiceSID" user with read/write rights in the Oraclehome directory.

First few directory deeper (D:\oracle\<SID>\<version>\database) there are some groups more added (ORA_<SID>_OPER and ORA_<SID>_DBA) where both SAP users (<SID>adm and SAPService<SID>) are members of.

There is also no SAP note that describes this error (BR0252E Function _stat64() failed) just some other error messages, which has nothing to do with this error message. About one year earlier this error came up on SCN (CheckDB fail with BR0252E Function stat() failed) that also fixed it with giving SAPServiceSID full rights on oracle.

So, I don't get the it, why I should use an extra oracle user for installation and for the oracle home directory, but I have to give afterwards SAPServiceSID manually full rights to this directory.

Does someone has a working 12c environment and can tell me what permissions are set in the directories (x:\oracle; x:\oracle\oraclehome; x:\oracle\oraclehome\12102 and x:\oracle\oraclehome\12102\database)

Environment:

Oracle 12102

Windows 2012 R2

SAP ERP 605

Thank you!

Best regards,

Tobias

Upgrading ECC 6.0 (SAP Kernel 7.20) from Oracle 10.2.0.5 to Oracle 12c

Hello

We have an installation SAP ECC 6.0 , SAP Kernel 7.20 on Solaris SPARC 10, and  Oracle 10.2.0.5. Now we want to upgrade to Oracle 12c.

we have read a lot information and OSS notes and we have a pair of doubts not clarified:

1.- What is the final version of SAP Kernel recommended for SAP ECC 6.00 , Solaris 10, and Oracle 12c ?

As per note 2133079 - Oracle Database 12c: Integration in SAP environment  is SAP KERNEL 7.21_EXT and above

As per service.sap.com/PAM SAP KERNEL  is 721_EXT or 7.22_EXT

So, 7.22 (no EXT) is compatible is possible???

Is SAP Kernel 7.22 (or 7.22 EXT) stable?  I have seen on sap service marketplace lastest SAPEXE and SAPEXEDB packages are not complete. SAPEXEDB are missing...

2.- During Oracle upgrading process... is necessary switch SAP kernel from 7.20 to a temporal sap kernel higher than 7.20  (but not the target kernel) in certain moment?  or is possible perform all necessary tasks related to oracle upgrade without changing sap kernel, and then at moment final switch to sap kernel 7.22_EXT (i.e) ??

Thanks and regards

ERROR => Couldn't initialize Oracle client, please check installation!

Hi Guys

After Upgrading and migrating a NW 7.31 System to NW 7.4 SP based in HANA, Im getting the following message regarding an external Oracle Database.

App Server is still Windows, so all kernel archives are for Windows.

Environment Variables all are OK,

Mind that this Database connection was working before System Upgrade

I thought it was related to lib_dbsl files, so I downloaded latest Oracle lib_dbsl for Windows X64 Platform, but still failing

Is if possible that Kernel 7.42 or NW 7.4 SP 12 is not compatible with Oracle 11.2.0.4 Client?

Best

Martin

Hello,

I'm installing a new system (system copy) and during the second phase (after data recovery) I get the following error message :

In fact, I know this issue and usually I solve it by changing password of dtabase user using brconnect. But for an unexpecting reason, this time that doesn't work. However, I use the same procedure which run usualy.

Data Guard between Oracle 11g and 12c

Hi,

Is it possible to setup data guard or restore/recovery between Oracle 11g (Primary) and Oracle 12c (standby/new install)?

The idea is to upgrade Oracle, with minimal downtime on Primary. The standby will become primary after Oracle is upgraded on standby.

Primary stays at 11g for quick back out.

regards

Anil

Dear experts,

While performing transport to production, we are facing below error

Connect is not possible: DBMS = ORACLE                      --- dbs_or

Message no. TW169

Diagnosis

R3trans cannot logon to the database.

System Response

The program is cancelled.

Procedure

In the R3trans log you will find an SQL error number, which gives you the cause of the error.

User oracle or orasid for 12c upgrade

$

In this blog post [ Oracle12c Upgrade ] there is a statement concerning the Oracle 12c SAP user:

"This step is optional but make sure that Oracle12c installation is done with user oracle"

As it was a bit confusing, I tried to comment, but as this is not allowed I use this thread.  Another blog mentions the required user ID:

<oracle> user is not must for 12.1c single instance

Because of "buried" shell scripts and other required rework/risk, the original restriction was relaxed.
