Hi all,
I am looking to partition the above tables on our ERP 6 EHP2 system.
I've read sap notes 742243 & 722188 but still not sure which is the best approach or partition type to use.
We ideally want to separate by Company Code (BUKRS) if possible but I don't have LIST partition type available to me in the ABAP Dictionary (SE14) only RANGE. SAP BASIS is 700 SP15.
What I am hoping someone can tell me is if RANGE can be used and what pitfalls I might experience. Or can I do the work on Oracle directly should that be required to use LIST partition type and if so how without losing any data?
Thanks in advance.

Hi All,
We wanted to incresase the size of Redo log size in our oracle DB using BRTOOLS utility. As this is a windows server on Cluster we cannot bring DB to mount mode very easily as we need to move DB out of cluster to do such activities.
We decided to use Brtools for the same.
The process which we are planning is:
1. Complete Backup of system.
2. Bring Db to No archive Mode
3. Execute Command - brspace -f moredo -a resize -f all_rf -s 200
Will above command safe for PRD landscape and will increase size of all redo log file available in different drives?
4. Bring DB to Archivelog mode.
5. DB backup again.
Is the process enough for increasing the size of redo log or need to do any other activity.
Need your advice.
Thanks,
Rableen

Hello Experts,
I need a detailed list of daily activities and transactions that are to be monitored in SAP BASIS as system administrator. Iam looking out for such a document since long but could not find one . I need the activities and transactions list along with details of analysis that if something goes wrong or something is missing while performing any activity / transaction ,how to check that and how to rectify that along with descriptions of technical terms used for analysis in the transaction or during performing an activity.
I hope ppl must hv prepared such a detailed analysis list for monitoring their R/3 , BIW , Solution Manager and Portal systems . Requested to forward the needful document to me at earliest on my Email id reachme.saumya@gmail.com .
Good points guaranteed as this document is very urgent to me so shall go out of way to assign more points if document is useful .
Thanks and Regards,

Hi Experts ,
Oracle process utilization is gradually increasing in our all systems and finally getting ORA - 00020 error in our all SAP systems (Portal, ECC, BW, other SAP java systems) with maxed out with number oracle processes.
We are using Oracle 11.2.0.3 on AIX 6.1 with NW 7.31 with Kernel 7.20_EXT patch 600 , DBSL patch 522 , saphostexec 720_REL patch 194
We have increased number of processes couple of times, but slowly getting maxed out again. We are running these systems for long time, had no issues related to oracle processes before. Two changes are made recently might affect these systems but not sure , one is we have upgraded the saphostagent with all these systems to patch level 194 , other one is Sol Man system has been upgraded with SP 11.
Just wondering how to troubleshoot oracle processes utilization or the SAP shadow processes, if oracle processes are getting inactive and not being released, might cause gradual increase of number of processes, is there any relation between host agent or Sol man connection or DBA Cockpit etc. ?
Any thoughts on this will be appreciated
Thanks

Hi Experts,
We are doing heterogeneous system copy import. during the phase create database schema, we are getting the below error.
bad entry in the init.ora file bad parameter value starts with '=' or white space or contains '('or')'. line 12 near string ',')
checked the init.ora file under /oracle/sid/11204/database, I am not able to find anything wrong with the file.
Could you pls help me to resolve the issue.

Hi All,
I know this is an old topic but still I wish to bring this in as I am unable to figure out by myself what the issue would be.
I did Kernel patch upgrade from 741 PL 15 to 110.
After that DB check and update stats are failing with the below log.
Job started
Step 001 started (program RSDBAJOB, variant &0000000000001, user ID DDIC)
Execute logical command BRCONNECT On host SAPHR
Parameters: -jid CHECK20150217024618 -u / -c -f check
BR0801I BRCONNECT 7.40 (12)
BR0805I Start of BRCONNECT processing: cepwngil.chk 2015-02-17 02:46:19
BR0252E Function fopen() failed for '/oracle/SID/sapcheck/cepwngil.chk' at location main-5
BR0253E errno 13: Permission denied

BR0280I BRCONNECT time stamp: 2015-02-17 02:46:19
BR0804I BRCONNECT terminated with errors
External program terminated with exit code 3
BRCONNECT returned error status E
Job finished
Anyhow after Kernel upgrade I ran saproot.sh so all the brtools exe's permissions were set right.
-rwsrwxr-- 1 orasid sapsys 13542030 Nov 1 15:47 brbackup
-rwsrwxr-- 1 orasid sapsys 13385793 Nov 1 15:47 brarchive

-rwxr-xr-x 1 sidadm sapsys 6740867 Nov 1 15:32 brtools
Then after further troubleshooting found that SYSTEM password was locked which I found after triggering brconnect db check at Server level.

BR0805I Start of BRCONNECT processing: cepwnoel.chk 2015-02-17 04:14:43

BR0280I BRCONNECT time stamp: 2015-02-17 04:14:50
BR0804I BRCONNECT terminated with errors
So unlocked and updated the password thru brconnect below command.
brconnect -c -u / -p init%ORACLE_SID%.sap -f chpass -o SYSTEM -password new password
But still facing the issue as brconnect check DB command fails and locks the SYSTEM password.
Any suggestions would be very much valuable to me.
Please respond.

Hallo.
My system SAP is:
SAP ECC 6.00
Kernel 7.21 EXT UC 64-bit
Oracle 11.2.0.3
Today my SAP system hangs (update deactivated, users stuck) at 16:37
In the Oracle alert log I see:
Archived Log entry 283680 added for thread 1 sequence 223167 ID 0x36faced0 dest 1:
Wed Mar 11 16:31:30 2015
Completed checkpoint up to RBA [0x367c0.2.10], SCN: 6823273164
Wed Mar 11 16:37:28 2015
ORA-1654: unable to extend index SAPSR3.S033~0 by 8192 in tablespace PSAPSR3
Wed Mar 11 16:40:00 2015
Incremental checkpoint up to RBA [0x367c0.208d8.0], current log tail at RBA [0x367c0.350ae.0]
but in PSAPSR3 there was near 7Gb free so I don't understand this.
I checked it by DB02 transaction and brtools : same result.
After I added 8GB , and after that I reactivated the update by SM13 transaction, the problem was solved.
In the attachmnt space.jpg you can see the size occupation.
Note that in the August 2014 I executed a partial conversion to IOT tables following :
"Oss1856270-Performance improvements for tables with single unique index." so I obtain near 50GB free.
Do you know if there are some misunderstanding wrong interpratation on the free space?
Could you help me?
Thanks a lot
Mario
Hi All,
Quick question:
EHP7 is NW 740. Past experience using SUM to carry out applications of EHP's and system upgrades has always required the creation of a new tablespace, eg. PSAPSR3740.
In this update/upgrade/enhancement of the system, I am moving from 701 NW to 740 NW, however, the checks results want the PSAP<SID>701 tablespace extended to accommodate the shadow instance preprocessing. This really doesn't seem at all right, as how will the repository switch work.
I was going to let the upgrade continue, but I'm not so sure now.......
