sapinst on oracle issue
Hi, Dear Experts!
I encounter sapinst issue. I have already installed 3 single system Netweaver 7.4 SR2 on Oracle 12 without any problem.
I am going to install HA system at SUSE cluster. The problem is : when I select "Single system on Filesystem" sapinst
ask to input scan-listener an so-on. It think I have RAC. I have tried with different SWPM. I tried with "Standard system" and "HA-system".
What did I miss?

Method for SAP ECC migration without system build
As part of Data center migration, SAP ECC, BW, CRM etc need to be migrated to new infrastructure present in new data center migration.
Traditional migration steps are-
1. Hardware provisioning
2. OS build
3. Oracle clusterware build
4. SAP installation
5. DB refresh/migration
I want to optimize step 4 and 5 with some method like- storage replication (SRDF) so that I don't have to do SAP installation and DB refresh/migration for so many times (considering 3 landscape). Please note that this is like for like migration with no changes.
I have 2 questions on this-
1. Can SAP systems be migrated using storage replication method? If yes, what are the pros and cons of this approach?
2. What are the limitations of this method?
Thanks,
Abhi
After Upgrade Oracle 10g to 11gBrtools 7.2 Stats gives SQL -2133 "Enable Threads"
After upgrading Oracle 10g to 11g, and BRTOOLS 7.0 to 7.2,
BRCONNECT -p init.sap E -f stats -t gives SQL error -2133 "Enable Threads"
All Sapnote pages were referred to but I am still having the error.
SAPNOTE pages referenced: 0113747,0012741,1428529,1430669,819929
So:
1. LD_LIBRARY_PATH=usr/sap/SYS/exe/run:/oracle/sid/112_64/lib:
/oracle/client/11x_64/instantclient:/oracle/client/10x_64/instantclient
2. Permissions are correct for sidadm, orasid br* (113747)
3. cd /oracle/client ln -s 11x_64 10x_64
4. cd $ORACLE_HOME/lib ln -s libnnz11.so libnnz10.so
5. ln -s $ORACLE_HOME/lib /oracle/client/11x_64/lib I also tried linking 10x_64/lib
Nothing is working.
Any ideas?
Thank you so much!

Verify OS and CRS installation standard
In Oracle world, we have utility called "OraChk" (earlier it was called RACCheck) to verify that RAC is built as per Oracle standards and best practices.
Is there similar utility or some reference SAP note that helps in this regard for Oracle on SAP?
I want to ensure that RHEL 5.x OS build and Oracle 11.2.0.3 CRS build is up to the SAP standard and there is no deviation.
Thanks,
Abhi
ora-01017 invalid username/password logon denied
Hi Folks,
We have installed ECC 6.0 EHP 6 system (SID – ECD) on distributed environment. After completing the installation we are getting return code 12 error while executing R3trans –d command (screenshot attached for your reference). In trans.log we found that SAPSR3 user is not able to login to DB and giving invalid userid/password error and SAPUSER table/view does not exist though I checked and found that table exist with help of queries SELECT COUNT(*) FROM ALL_OBJECTS WHERE OBJECT_TYPE IN ('TABLE','VIEW')AND OBJECT_NAME='SAPUSER';
SELECT OWNER FROM DBA_TABLES WHERE TABLE_NAME = 'SAPUSER';. Also I reset the SAPSR3 password with the help of query ALTER USER SAPSR3 IDENTIFIED BY but still getting the same error. I have also referred sap note 400241 - Problems with ops$ or sapr3 connect to Oracle and executed all general checks which went fine.
Please help to resolve this issue.
Thanks
brbackup Versus RMAN backup
Hi All,
We have Oracle 11g running in our landscape where we are using RMAN backup running with brbackup commands.
Now my question is if there is any additional significance of running backup using RMAN, Is there any limitation with brbackup which forces us to use RMAN as an good solution.
Also is there any limitations for incremental backup while using brbackup.
Please suggest.
Thanks,
Shivam
Query performance
Hello, we are experiencing really bad performance with a generated BPC query. Total result set is about ~50 rows. We looked at execution plan and it takes almost a minute to generate one.
Here is the query:

And execution plan is attached. We're suspecting BITMAP CONVERSION TO ROWIDS being the issue but changing DB parameters and altering session to suppress conversion didn't help.
Any hints and ideas are appreciated.

Location of initSID.utl with Oracle 12c
Good morning,
There is a point that is not clear with brtools and backint configuration on Oracle12c.
I have not found clear documentation concerning this point in SAP Notes.
Beginning with Oracle 12c, SAP brtools uses /oracle/SID/sapprof/,
to store the brtools configuration file (initSID.sap), instead of /oracle/SID/121/dbs/.
In the case of backint usage, should the initSID.utl be created in the sapprof or dbs directory?
Thanks in advance for your answers.
