Need to convert 11G NON ASM to ASM in AIX

few questions

COnversion NON ASM to ASM storage 11g + 12c

Q1 : Since it is fresh grid install, can I go for 12c grid for standalone (single instance) and can still use 11g DB to use ASM storage??

Q2 : As far as , s/w owner, oracle is required grid s/w owner  for 12c, is it also true for DB s/w owner 12c (if going forward I upgrade to 12c)

If that is the case , My intention / step is to

install 12 grid for standalone ASM instance as oracle user

install 11g on this server as oracle user

create dataguard of my primary DB to this server (and convert NON ASM files to ASM Files)

install 12c DB s/w primary DB node as oracle user

make a switch and upgrade DB to 12c on new server (which was serving as standby and was on ASM)

Q3 : anything that is needed to chnage when orasid changes to oracle as part of this upgrade or conversion?

Saplicense.exe -R3Setup SID XXXXXX TRACE=2' exits with error code -2 during Installation

Hello,

I'm installing a new system (system copy) and during the second phase (after data recovery) I get the following error message :

ERROR 2015-11-12 11:34:17.926

CJS-30023  Process call 'F:\usr\sap\SID\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64\saplicense.exe -R3Setup SID XXXXXX TRACE=2' exits with error code -2. For details see log file(s) saplicense.log, dev_slic.

In fact, I know this issue and usually I solve it by changing password of dtabase user using brconnect. But for an unexpecting reason, this time that doesn't work. However, I use the same procedure which run usualy.

Dev_slic log give me the following information :

Hi Experts,

I wanted to know what are the differences in refresh of different abap systems with oracle as the database. Like, what processes are different in pre and post refresh tasks for BW, CRM, SRM, SCM, ECC etc.

Please advice.

Thanks,

Asad

Dear experts,

While performing transport to production, we are facing below error

Connect is not possible: DBMS = ORACLE                      --- dbs_or

Message no. TW169

Diagnosis

R3trans cannot logon to the database.

System Response

The program is cancelled.

Procedure

In the R3trans log you will find an SQL error number, which gives you the cause of the error.

Environment variables not set (or incorrectly set) are the most frequent reason for the error

Hi,

We are facing an issue regarding an event triggered job SAP_CCMS_MONI_BATCH_STARTUP_DP.

Details of the job

-

ABAP Program -> RSAL_BATCH_TOOL_STARTUPDISP

User -> DDIC

Job Frequency -> Event Periodic

Event -> SAP_MONITORING_STARTUP_DISPATCH

We performed Database Refresh and this job has come from Source System. We have deleted the job in Target System but after that also we are getting continuous error message in SM21.

Error message is as follows:

14:33:36 DIA  001 000 SAPSYS                EA  S Failed to reschedule a periodic job

On digging down we got the below information in SM21 regarding the error:

Documentation for system log message EA S :

-

This message is output by one of the job schedulers active in the

system (e.g. time or event-based scheduler). It indicates a problem

related to the database. An attempt was made to reschedule a periodic

job and write the respective control data in the database. This error

occurred for one of the associated database operations (for example,

INSERT or UPDATE).

Another cause of the error is failure to generate a new job ID number.

A subsequent message will point this out.

The following courses of action are possible:

Check whether there are any other notes on this problem next to this

message in the system log, for example direct messages from the

database interface. These details generally bring you closer to the

actual cause of the problem.

The additional information for this message contains the name of the

database table for which the error occurred.

If you determine that the error occurred during the SELECT access to

table TBTCI, the internal report belonging to this background job has

been deleted. In this case, there is normally a background job in the

'terminated' status, which ended due to runtime error

'LOAD_PROGRAM_NOT_FOUND'. Delete this job to prevent further

unnecessary scheduling on the part of the background processing

scheduler. You must then reschedule the job concerned.

As rescheduling of the periodic job could not be completed

successfully, this job is not executed at first. The background

processing scheduler takes this job and attempts to schedule it again.

Depending on the repetition period, gaps in running the background jobs

can occur for successful scheduling (i.e. the background jobs that were

unsuccessfully scheduled will be missing in the job overview if their

execution date elapsed in the meantime).

Since the next start of the periodic job could not be scheduled

correctly, there is no entry in the job overview for the planned start

date.

If the system failed to generate the job ID number, you will find notes

on what to do next in the long text of the respective system log

message.

We have fixed also Background Object in SM61.

Kindly help to fix this issue. Looking forward for reply.

Dear Experts ,

can some one guide me from where i can find the exact values over a period of months for sequential/random disk (Input/ouput) reads and writes , i have searched on st03n >> workload >> database there i can see no of sequential read and direct access , i could sum up these values and get the required values for read at least but when i compare them to the data i get from st04 it somehow does not match

st03n.PNG

for st04 i can see much more number of physical reads ,i am assuming the sum of sequential reads and #accesses from st03n should sum up to the physical read field from st04

can anyone please support

Active Active Oracle Database set up across data centres

Hi,

We have a customer who is interested in moving their existing infrastructure to an Active Active Database configuration, they have several SAP systems including ECC, CRM and PI. They currently have an Oracle database clustered in one data center and then use Oracle Data Guard to replicate the database into a 2nd DC. Now they want to configure the Database as Active Active across the data centers, they want always on set up, just in case they lose one of the DC's so that they wont lose the database for the minutes to hours for fail over to the 2nd DC that they currently have.

We are looking at Extended RAC across the DC's but this will also mean additional Network upgrades so its looking quite expensive, any other options?

Hello! I have some questions about SQL Command Editor (oracle 11g/12c - nw701.12).

1) Why is this command with parse error (F7), but runs fine (F8)?

2) Why is this command with parse error (F7), but runs fine (F8)?

select distinct PA0105.USRID, PA0105.PERNR from PA0105, (select PA0105.USRID from PA0105 where PA0105.SUBTY = '0007' and PA0105.MANDT = '123' group by PA0105.USRID having count(distinct PA0105.PERNR) > '1') A where A.USRID = PA0105.USRID

minus

select PA0105.USRID, PA0105.PERNR from PA0105, PA0000, (select PA0105.USRID from PA0105, PA0000 where PA0105.SUBTY = '0007' and PA0105.MANDT = '123' and PA0000.MANDT = '123' and PA0105.PERNR = PA0000.PERNR group by PA0105.USRID having count(distinct PA0000.PERNR) > '1') A where PA0000.MASSN = '09' and to_number(PA0000.BEGDA) < to_number(to_char(SYSDATE, 'YYYYMMDD')) and PA0000.ENDDA = '99991231' and A.USRID = PA0105.USRID and PA0105.PERNR = PA0000.PERNR order by USRID, PERNR

Hi All,

Our SAP instance is terminating with the following error.

I have checked with the note 1966321, it says that to do the latest kernel patch.

Our kernel patch is 2 years old.

The system was running fine without any issue.

I need to know whether the kernel patch will do the trick?

HI Experts,

recently we planed to migrate our central instance to H.A platform using oracle 11g and ASM technology, in our test environment migration done without error but in our Disaster recover plan we faced some issue in database backup and recover phase.

we used DB13 to create back with "Online Backup + Redo log" action, also in our initSID.sap we have change following parameters:

backup_mode = full

backup_type = online_cons

backup_dev_type = disk

but at the end of backup when we tried to restore backup files we faced many problems and after all troubleshooting we find this in backup problem:

Oracle Advanced Compression on SAP systems running oracle 11g. Thoughts?

Experts,

I'm certainly not a DBA (I'm a basis guy with limited DBA skills), but I was wondering if anyone out there has used oracle advanced compression on any oracle DBs that are running SAP.  We have ECC6.0/CRM7.0/BW7.02/PI7.11 systems all running oracle 11g.

Our DBA team is considering buying the oracle advanced compression product.  We've been told it could save us 60% in disk space.  I wanted to know your thoughts on this product and its impact on an SAP system,

thanks
