We are looking into an infrastructure refresh for one of our SAP customers. A number of options are under consideration, one of them being the use of Oracle Private Cloud Appliance for the database layer. So far there was just a brief meeting with Oracle hardware reps around this option and not all aspects could be covered in that short time frame. Unfortunately no one from the SAP area could be present in the meeting. One (important) element in the assessment is the integration of SAP LVM with the chosen solution – since we want to use the automation capabilities of LVM in the setup. Can you provide information on the LVM integration for the infrastructure stack in this case : - database compute layer = Oracle PCA (Oracle VM + Oracle Linux + Oracle Enterprise) intention is to use Oracle RAC and DataGuard to secure scalability and uptime demands from the customer - database storage layer will be EMC (VMax3) with fiber-channel connection ; we want to use our existing Enterprise storage solution to use existing knowledge and support channels - as mentioned : SAP LVM will be used for automation of operations; We want to understand the capabilities and constraints (if any) of the considered hardware/software combination. I am aware that Oracle PCA can also be used to host the SAP application layer but that is not in scope at the moment. Thanks in advance for any useful feedback, Frank
