Hi All,

Recently we have upgraded oracle 10.2.0.0 to 11.2.0.4.  Almost  say 5 mins dispatcher is up , after that dispatcher goes down.

When i checked sqlnet.log file we come across error 12170 error.

Can anyone suggest, what would be the best approach for resoltuion of this error.

Can we increase the trace level for sqlnet .If so please let me know the steps to perform.

Really appreciate your input's.

Thanks

Pradeep.

Data Transfer from MSSQL-DB to BW 7.4 on Hana which is on ORACLE DB

Dear SAP Gurus,

I have a big problem and will be very thankful for any hint on my question !!

As it is written in the Headline I want to transfer data from an MSSQL Database to SAP BW 7.4 on HANA which underlying database is an ORACLE database. Do you know any way, how this can be done, without having huge affords developing a connector? As far as I know the data transfer via DB connect only works from SQL to SAP BW if the underlying database is a MS or a Linux Server but not if it is ORACLE.

Please help! Any idea will lead to ongoing thankfulness .

Cheers

Saplicense.exe -R3Setup SID XXXXXX TRACE=2' exits with error code -2 during Installation

Hello,

I'm installing a new system (system copy) and during the second phase (after data recovery) I get the following error message :

ERROR 2015-11-12 11:34:17.926

In fact, I know this issue and usually I solve it by changing password of dtabase user using brconnect. But for an unexpecting reason, this time that doesn't work. However, I use the same procedure which run usualy.

Dev_slic log give me the following information :

Oracle 12c - CHECKDB // BR0252E Function _stat64() failed

$

Hello guys,

I've setup our first 12c Oracle database and have some trouble with the brtools.

If I check the db via DB13 I get the following error message:

R0252E Function _stat64() failed for 'D:\oracle\oraclehome\PRD\12102' at location BrDiskStatGet-1
R0253E errno 2: No such file or directory
R0277E Determination of disk volume status for D:\oracle\oraclehome\PRD\12102 failed

To fix this issue I give SAPServicePRD user full rights to "D:\oracle" folder.

First I thought I missed something during the installation (Oracle / SAP), but in the last few days I installed the same system on a sandbox:

- one with an Oracle home user (oraclehome (D:\oracle\oraclehome\PRD))

- one with build in system user (D:\oracle\PRD (like 10g))

On both this issue is coming up in DB13.

So I checked some old installations (10g, 11g) and never find a "SAPServiceSID" user with read/write rights in the Oraclehome directory.

First few directory deeper (D:\oracle\<SID>\<version>\database) there are some groups more added (ORA_<SID>_OPER and ORA_<SID>_DBA) where both SAP users (<SID>adm and SAPService<SID>) are members of.

There is also no SAP note that describes this error (BR0252E Function _stat64() failed) just some other error messages, which has nothing to do with this error message. About one year earlier this error came up on SCN (CheckDB fail with BR0252E Function stat() failed) that also fixed it with giving SAPServiceSID full rights on oracle.

So, I don't get the it, why I should use an extra oracle user for installation and for the oracle home directory, but I have to give afterwards SAPServiceSID manually full rights to this directory.

Does someone has a working 12c environment and can tell me what permissions are set in the directories (x:\oracle; x:\oracle\oraclehome; x:\oracle\oraclehome\12102 and x:\oracle\oraclehome\12102\database)

Environment:

Oracle 12102

Windows 2012 R2

SAP ERP 605

Thank you!

Best regards,

Tobias

Data Guard between Oracle 11g and 12c

Hi,

Is it possible to setup data guard or restore/recovery between Oracle 11g (Primary) and Oracle 12c (standby/new install)?

The idea is to upgrade Oracle, with minimal downtime on Primary. The standby will become primary after Oracle is upgraded on standby.

Primary stays at 11g for quick back out.

Anil

BRTools recreates spfile

$

Hi

I am currently testing Oracle migration to release 12C. After upgrading BRTools to 7.40 patch 17 and migrating DB user to Oracle, I am facing 2 issues:

  1. New BRTools behavious (only after DB user migration) where when I run archive backup, it creates pfile (this is normal) under sapprof folder, then recreates spfile from pfile under the same folder. Is there a way to disable this functionality?
  2. The archive backup runs fine, but at the end I get:

                         Data Protection for SAP(R)

Interface between BR*Tools and Tivoli Storage Manager

BKI5014E: Tivoli Storage Manager Error:

ANS1087E (RC106)  Access to the specified file or directory is denied

This was running fine before the migration and nothing changed on the file permission.

Any idea? Thanks.

Impact or Risk involved in Changing of default Oracle Database Listener Port No.

Hi, guys.

I's like to ask the experts out there the ff:

  1. What is the impact on SAP in terms of Application, Performance and Disk Space if we turn ON Table logging (rec/client) parameter which is used to record all changes made to the SAP tables
  2. Impact or Risk involved in Changing of default Oracle Database Listener Port No. (this one's too technical for myunderstanding )

Thank you for your time.

SAP SWPM system copy - Oracle error.

Dear Collegues,

I try to prepare SAP system copy by SWPM (ERP 6.06, Oracle 11.2.0.3, Linux SuSE) and I have a problem. Oracle backup on the source system has been prepared and restored on the target system via BRTOOLS (brrestore -m full -b beridydy.afd). New directories also was done SAPDATA.. SAPTRACE etc . with proper rights :

chmod 775 sapdata…

chown oraSID:dba sapdata…

And after restore if I try to continue SWPM task I see the error during the task – Oracle Backup/Restore database – finished

DIAGNOSTIC: Error message:ORA-00205 error in identifying control file, check alert log for more info.

If I open ora_sql_results.log I see:

ORA-32004: obsolete or deprecated parameter(s) specified for RDBMS instance

ORACLE instance started.

Total System Global Area 1386356736 bytes

Fixed Size            2228224 bytes

Variable Size          704643072 bytes

Database Buffers      671088640 bytes

Redo Buffers            8396800 bytes

ORA-00205: error in identifying control file, check alert log for more info

I didn’t do anything from Oracle side except restore DB via BRTOOLS and creating directories. Shall I do something else before this step on the Oracle side ? What else should be done ?

Thank you.

Tomasz

SAP+Oracle on ASM

Hello SCN members. I want to perform some research regarding ASM technology in Oracle.
Do you use ASM in your SAP installations without RAC ?
If yes , how it works in terms of stability , have you faced some ASM related issues or it works like a conventional FS without any major problems ?

Thanks.
