  • 02/04/15--05:24: onine backup delay issue
  • Hi Experts,

We are taking online backup of our ECC production system on daily basis (12.00 night). (ECC+Windows+Oracle)

Usually it takes around 1.30 hrs to finish successfully.

But recently, we observed that during saturdays online backup is taking much time to complete.

Customer asking us the root cause with the evidence.

Can you please let me know, where and what to check the root cause for the backup delay.

Please suggest any SAP notes or links or if any.

    Hello Oracle experts,

are there any news/updates on Oracle parameter SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES  for systems on Windows Servers?

We would like to change SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES from NTS to NONE.

Unfortunately after this the startdb skripts should be updated after each Kernel update due to "connect / as sysdba".

Are there any workarounds to avoid this?

    Thank you!

    Hi Experts,

I am trying to install oracle enterprise edition 10.2 on windows server 2008 R2 64 bit system.

My laptop is of type AMD64(intel Core I3 2nd generation).

So I tried to run the installation from folder AMD64> Database>Setup.

While the installation screen is coming and I select next to continue the installation, it is giving abnormal program termination message.

I have already modified the file Oraparam.ini by adding windows version 6.0 there (as oracle 10.2 do not support windows server 2008 by default) and also modified the XML files present in database>stage>prereq> db path to adapt the changes for windows server 2008.

Still the installer is giving the same error.

    Please help.

    Thanks,

    Arijit

According to heise Security News there exists an Oracle bug which allows malicious listeners:

    http://www.h-online.com/security/news/item/Oracle-databases-vulnerable-to-injected-listeners-1563150.html

I have searched OSS and SDN, but so far it seems there is no recommendation from SAP.

Should we set proactively dynamic_registration = off in the listener.ora (for non-clustered systems)?

Or should we wait until Oracle releases a bugfix and keep fingers crossed?

In Opentext,. I have a problem that we cannot change and update while Disk Volume is full or locked

I have ERP 6.0 ehp6(SEP , which is PRD system ABAP + JAVA NETWEAVER 702 ERP 606 ) and OPENTEXT as Contens server ( Archive Server 10.1.1 )

we used one Original Archive ZT  mapped Disk Volume ZT_Volume that is stroed documents.

Disk Volume lock thesholds is setting 2% for Disk Volume ZT_Volume in my system. (‘ Min. free space on volumes in HDSK pool = 2%)

The parameter is explained that “This variable specifies the percentage of a hard disk volume that is to remain free. This is useful for marking a volume as full yet leaving a bit of space for future changes to the documents located on the volume.”

For this parameter explain. I think I can change and update a document using report  'SCMS_AO_TABLE_UPDATE' in standard function.

I performed a step below for test

I tried to change the file already stored  after Disk Volume locked.

But we cannot change and update while Disk Volume is full or locked.

Is this situation is correct?  Why can I not change the document?

    Hi,

I have a table with some data sitting across the Landscape including Production. Now, for some reason, if I want to change Table Space that was initially assigned to the Table from SE11, should I do it right away? Or Do I need to delete the Table and re-create it with New Table Space?

In fact, I have same question for the one that I created/activated in Development System but not yet applied to any other Systems? Do I need to simply change Table Space and Re-Activate it or should it be Delete and Create table with new Table Space?

I am worried about Table Re-Creation since this is going to purge the entire data, however this looks like the recommended way. Please share your thoughts?

    Regards,

    Naveen Inuganti

Hi  We are running Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 and are testing with Oracle 12c.  We connect to Oracle directly from the Crystal Report, not from Visual Studio.   We are connecting with Oracle Client (have tried v.11 and v.12).  When trying to generate the report we get an Ora-942 Table or view does not exist.  We are calling an Oracle Package which contains procedures.  This DOES work successfully when connecting to Oracle 11g, but is NOT working with Oracle 12c.  Has anyone experienced or resolved this same issue?  Thanks.

    Hi Friends,

We have an issue in the online backup which causes a very high CPU  consumption in the system .

Which invariable causes the system to be rebooted as it gets hung.

We have Oracle 11g with RHEL 5.7 in the SAP environment.

We are using RMAN to take the full as well as incremental backup with the TSM as a backup server.

The backup has been running fine for over the year since we implemented RMAN .

See below the screencap for the CPU usage during the time the backup runs:

    Q01_highCPU.PNG

We have no idea why triggering the online FULL backup causes the high CPU consumption,Any advise would be appreciated.

    Regards,

    Rakesh

  • 02/13/15--07:50: SAP On Oracle RAC 11.2.0.4
  • We are planning to install SAP on Oracle RAC ( 11.2.0.4)  on Soalris 11. Based on note 527843 - Oracle RAC support in the SAP environment

It says we have to install DB Home in ACFS or Shared File system between nodes. Is it mandatory to install DB Home on ACFS ?

Can we do db home installation locally ? Anyone foresee any  issue ?

    Hi,

In our system scheduled SMB backup starting to fail.

    It shows an error like this;

    BR0278E Command output of '/usr/local/bin/bcv/SAP-SPLIT.sh /oracle/PRD/sapbackup/.bepvhlli.lst':

    NWSegMgr:

Invalid or uninitialized partition found on drive sdx.

You can initialize this disk by answering YES to the following question, but you will later need to commit this change when you exit from evms. Committing this change will cause any existing partition information to be discarded and an empty partition table created on the drive.

If you choose NO, you should exit evms and correct the problem on the drive.

Question: Would you like to initialize the drive and discard any partitions currently on it?

evms_activate: Responding with default selection "No".

    NWSegMgr:

Invalid or uninitialized partition found on drive sdw.

But, from the same system we are getting a daily online backup. (using brtools). It is executing successfully

In ths case , What would be the reason to fail the Split-mirror backup?

Is it some issue with the scripts or some issue with the storage

    Configuration is as follows;

Backup tool - HP Data Protector & brtools

    DB-Oracle 10.2.0.4 , O/S - SuSE

Error log files are attached with this....& looking forward for your guidance

Note - Before the day where SMB backup fails , we have changed a power unit of the EVA server! Will it make an effect to this failure.

    regards,

    Zerandib

Using SUM10SP12_3-20006540.SAR to apply EHP7 SPS6 to our ERP ECC6.0 NW7.01 system. SSFS has been implemented on all our Unix systems and I have used this SUM to sucessfully apply EHP7 to and HR system in the last fortnight.

Error message that I am getting during extraction phase is:

Cannot list directory '/usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/global/security/rescssfs/key': No such file or directory

The thing is this directory is empty, and it is empty everywhere, so shouldn't be an issue as it was not a problem with the HR application. I have als tried using the latest SUM patch SUM10SP12_6-20006540.SAR, same error. SP12_3 SUM was used for the HR system, so I know that one works.

Any advice/suggestions always well received here.

In the meantime I am going to try creating and empty file.

    Thanks

I attempted to create a new system using SWPM system copy. Got nearly through it and it had created a new filesystem /usr/sap/ASCS/ (didn't have neough space available for this because I didn't know it was going to create it). None of my other systems have it and I'm trying to make sure this new system is a COPY of the other system. I made sure that I didn't make any selections regarding high availability or anything of that sort.

Is there a way using SWPM to no create /usr/sap/ASCS/ or since I'm not using any of the HA options, can it be removed without messing something else up?  If it can't be removed and can't be copied without it, what if any impact will it have on my system in terms of making it dissimilar to another system. I'm wanting this new system to be a "production support" system so it needs to be as close to production in every way as possible. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

This is an ABAP only NW7.2 system on Oracle 11g.
