When we goto tcode db02, space overview or tablespace overview there we find Total size, Total free size, size, free size. I am not understanding what the "total size" column implies and what the "size" column implies ?
Please clarify my doubt.

Hello Experts, I am getting this message when I run Transaction SM21in my Solution Manager, when i see in detail the error then i see this:
The specified operating system call was returned with an error.
For communication calls (receive, send, etc) often the cause of errors
are network problems.
It could also be a configuration problem at operating system level.
(file cannot be opened, no space in the file system etc.).
Additional specifications for error number 111
Name for errno number E_UNKNOWN_NO
The meaning of the value stored in 'errno' is
platform-dependent.
The value which occurred here is unknown to the SysLog system.
Either there is an incorrect error number in the SysLog message, or
the tables TSLE2 or TSLE3 are not completely maintained.
My Basis is on vacation so I got no help here, we have checked the file systems and everything looks ok,
I appreciate any advice about this error

Our FVP DB/CI has high CPU spikes in the 2000 hour on Saturdays. Since the SAP-related CPU reported in ST03 is negligible on FVP, I assumed
the high CPU was driven by Oracle. But when I looked at the 2000-2100 hour on Saturday, July 20, I found that some of the AWR data didn't
appear to make sense, given the CPU data. Details are in the attachment.
Basically, AWR seems to be giving inconsistent data on how much of the CPU is being used for database work. Is the strange result I'm seeing in the AWR report due to a hourly interval being insufficiently granular for what I'm measuring? Is there any way to get more granular performance data from Oracle? Or am I just interpreting the report incorrectly?

Here's the problem/question:
My systems use the inclusion table SPTH to determine what directories on the server can access the SAP system. Any time something tries to access the system from a location on the server other than what is in that table, I get an error stating "OPEN_DATASET_NO_AUTHORITY". I'm performing an EHP6 upgrade and In all of my other systems (SND,DEV,QAS) I've just gone to SE16 and entered the paths to the the upgrade directories and problem solved. In QAS, I had to change the client role from production to test in order to have the edit/change option in SE16, but as soon as I did and made the change, I hit continue in the SUM and the error was gone. I'm reluctant to make the client role change in PRD as I'm not sure what ramifications might be. I manually entered the the paths using SQLplus and they show up in the table when I view it in SE16, but I still get the error like nothing was done at all.
I'm wondering, does the table get re-read when you make a change in SE16 and maybe on startup or is there something else going on here? If I change it in SE16 it works, but if I manually change the table using SQLplus, it does not work.

Im performing a export of oracle DB over sapinst - SAP ECC 6.0 - linux - target is set to Oracle - here are lots of same problems mentioned already however in any one is solution.
My export finished with 12 failed jobs.

When i try to upgrade oracle from 10.2.0.4 to 11g using DBUA.I'm the getting the below error
" ORA-04023 - Object sys.standard could not be validated or authorized ".
I'm unable to ignore the error also.
I've run the pre-requisite scripts and compiled the invalid objects also before running DBUA.
But still issue is there.

EHP6 upgrade on HP-UX/Oracle - on our production system.
I'm to the preprocessing step in the phase MAIN_INIT/REPACHK_CLONE where it needs to lock the system. It states that no changes to development objects are possible until the end of the procedure. I'm wanting to complete the preprocessing step and be ready for the "Execution" (downtime) step when the go-live weekend rolls around which is a few weeks from now.
Here is my conundrum; The preprocessing step usually takes 3-5 days (on previous systems) if there are no problems. I don't want to wait until I'm 5 days out and start this step in case there is a problem and it takes me a couple of days to fix. This would cause me to have to wait another whole month due to the very narrow window I have for downtime. So I want to get it ready well ahead of time. If I continue now and lock the system, (unless I'm mistaken) I will not be able to make any emergency repairs or transports to this system (PRD)for the next few weeks until the entire upgrade is complete. Is this correct or is there a way to make emergency changes/transports while the system is "locked"? I realize that they would likely be overwritten after the upgrade and have to be redone after the upgrade.
I'm looking for suggestions on how to proceed.

I have configured the tnsnames.ora at the OS level.
I completed a test with tnsping and also connect to the database via
sqlplus. Everything works fine at the OS level.
I have created the connection parameters via tx:DBCO
However i get the system message with text "Database error 12154 at CON"when i create a DB connection via tx:RSA1.

We need to setup DR server for below environment using oracle dataguard:
OS : Red hat Linux
DB : Oracle 10g
SAP : ECC 6.0
SID : PRD
ABAP + JAVA system
We have Installed fresh SAP on DR site and now are planning to restore the DB and further steps to configure oracle dataguard.
I have gone through lot of forums and documents but I have below queries :
1. Can we use online backup and log backup to restore the DB ? in ABAP + JAVA case also same approach is OK ?
2. Is oracle dataguard already installed with Oracle 10g enterprise edition or will it be a separate installation ? How to access its console ?
3. I have found document for 11G but no detailed doc for 10G, if anyone of you can point me to correct detailed steps then it will be very helpful.

I've done an oracle database upgrade from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.3. According to the logs that ended well. Then I tried to upgrade the oracle client to 11.2.0.3 by following SAP Note 819829, step 5 says:

Hello Experts,
I'm going through an Oracle upgrade from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.3. I'm currently in Preparation phase (according to the oracle upgrade guide):
I have installed the Oracle sotfware 11G and now I need to apply the SAP Bundle Patch and here are my doubts:
In step 8 (of sap bundle readme) says:
For each database instance running from the Oracle home*, connect to the database instance as SYSDBA using SQL*Plus and run the post-installation script catsbp.sql:
$ cd $OHRDBMS/rdbms/admin
$ env ORACLE_HOME=$OHRDBMS $OHRDBMS/bin/sqlplus / as sysdba
SQL> @?/sapbundle/SBP_112036_201306/catsbp.sql
SQL> quit
Do I need to apply the steps wich are related to the database? I mean, at this point I have Oracle software 10G and 11G, my IHRDBMS is /oracle/<SID>/11203 but my database is still running at 10G, or Do I need to apply this steps related to the database (Sql scripts) after the database upgrade?
In the post Installation instructions there are alse steps related to the Database (sql scripts) and I dont know if I have to apply them now or after the upgrade.
