Determine tables for online reorg

$

Hello,

Our Customer has asked us to do reorganisation of Database to claim free space.

I search a lot still confuse about few aspects abt it, as new to oracle.

How can we determine which table needs the reorganisation, which help us to reclaim maximum space.

I have gone through below notes

646681 and 541538

But these gives the generic concept about reorg, bt still didnt got the clear idea.

Any help is appreciated.

Ashish

Restore Oracle DB Backup on RAC with ASM on Standalone server

$

Dear Experts,

We have our Production Enviornment on Linux as OS and Oracle DB on RAC and ASM. We are taking the backup through DB13 of Production system.

We want to rectify whether the above backup is restorable or not. For this, we want to restore the backup on Single Standalone system without RAC and ASM.

My questions is 1) Is it possible to restore database from RAC and ASM to normal Standalone server ?

                         2) If possible, can anyone let me know the challenges we could face during the same procedure.

Looking forward for suggestions.

Regards,

KK

DB13 backup of Oracle on RAC and ASM

Dear Experts,

My ECC Landscape is on Oracle RAC with ASM. I have configured my DB13 backup successfully.

Now as I monitor in DBACOCKPIT the used space is 90GB but when I take the FULL ONLINE BACKUP I get the size of 239 GB. Due to this, we have space constraint at our.

Is this normal, or whether DB13 is backing up data from both ASM Nodes (i.e. +ASM1 and +ASM2 duplication of data). Kindly advise the same.

KK

Dears,

we just upgraded successfully to EHP6 a test system, and at the end we noticed the tsp *702 are not empty, some table it's still inside.

For that reason we cannot drop them as usual.

We read note 1715052 ad as suggested we try to perform a reorganization to move them to the new tablespaces.

But despite we are using the latest DBATOOLS 720 (34) we recive the error:

BR0301E SQL error -42008 at location tab_onl_reorg-39, SQL statement:
'BEGIN DBMS_REDEFINITION.START_REDEF_TABLE (UNAME => '"SAPR3"', ORIG_TABLE => '"TTREET"', INT_TABLE => '"TTREET#$"', OPTIONS_FLAG => DBMS_REDEFINITION.CONS_US                E_PK); END;'

ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_REDEFINITION", line 56
ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_REDEFINITION", line 1490

We found  note 1290097, but does not work. The error still occurr.

Any advise ?

Dear All,

Operating System: AIX

Dtabase used:  Oracle

we are using  one Solman Server ONLY. In this Solman Server , we have two database used namely IDS and SMI.

  • SID used for Solution Manager is SMI .
  • SID used for IDOC is IDS.

Both the above SIDs ( SMI & IDS ) are installed in a single Solman Server.

/usr/sap/smi & /usr/sap/SMD

Currently we are doing fresh Solman installation 7.1  in SOLMAN Server ( thatis;   Inst. SAP Solution Manager 7.1 SR1 AIX - Oracle).

/oracle is the oracle base directory used for SMI and IDS . The below are the Files used in /oracle.

NOTE:  Before doing Solman installation, the SID used for Solman is SMD. Now we planned to change SID of Solman dfrom SMD to SMI.

Where can I find BR*Tools Studio

$

0

It might be called BR*Tools or BR*Studio.

it is a tool that was released in 2008 (I believe) to manage Oracle databases.  BR stands for Backup and Recovery tools.  There is a standard set of tools that SAP releases for Oracle called BR*Tools.  BR*Studio is the GUI front end for these tools.

I've looked through service marketplace and SCN, and only get directed to the store.

Any suggestions?

Is it recommended to test SAP functionalities after an Oracle Upgrade ?

$

Hello,

As we have to upgrade his SAP ECC from Oracle 10.2.0.2 to Oracle 11g in his productive system, a customer has built a strategy as if it was an SAP upgrade (locking of users/jobs/printings/.. AND test of all their functionalities after the upgrade before unlocking every thing).

It's the first time I'm asked to follow such a strategy for un Oracle Upgrade, and for me, it is not necessary at all.

Could someone give me a link where SAP could mention whatever about this topic ?

Thanks a lot!

Best regards,

Gérard
