Dear all,

 

just a question for you

Starting from a MCOD environment (3 SID), the idea is to split them and keep three stand alone instances.

Environment SLES11/ORACLE11

 

The initial approach is to perform the export of the schema via sapinst (in total three exports dump) and then execute the migration into the new environment/HW.

 

It seems that there is not a standard SAP procedure for this kind of activities, so I'm here to ask you if someone has already done a split of a MCOD using a different method.

 

Any suggestion will be appreciated

Hi. Experts.

 

I am getting the error below while starting the oracle 11g database.

 

ORA-01261: Parameter db_recovery_file_dest destination string cannot be translated
ORA-01263: Name given for file destination directory is invalid
OSD-04018: Unable to access the specified directory or device.
O/S-Error: (OS 2) The system cannot find the file specified.

 

Experts Please Help.

Dear All,

 

I am facing the backup issue for long time. i have tried with different solution. But still i couldnot clear.

Please help me to clear the issue.

 

System Details :

OS : HP-UX

DB : ORACLE 9.2.0.6.0

SAP : ECC6 , Kernel : 304 and DBTOOL : 52 (latest one).

 

  I am taking the database and arch backup into tape.

 

Tape and init<SID>.sap details : tape_address = /dev/rmt/0mn, tape_address_rew = /dev/rmt/0m, tape_size = 400000M,

expir_period = 0, tape_use_count = 300

 

Database backup is fine and archive log backup also taking but end of the process its throughing the error.

From that error i received, i think the command "cpio" is trying to input the archive file to /oracle/<SID>/sapreorg/ and the process failed with error : "not enough space". So i think the error happenned because DIR sapreorg is full. But when i check the free space. Sapreorg still have 87% free space.

 

Please help me find the root cause for this issue. Is it because a tape problem?

Hi experts,

 

We are going to start to use shrink to reorganize certain tables instead the usual reorganization. We read the note 919389 and we made some tests, but we have a doubt to use it in the production systems.

 

Which method produces more blocks or more performance problems when the tables is being used?

Hi,

 

We want to limit  the number of sessions per user to 10 by setting parameter SESSIONS_PER_USER.

 

As we know , there is a dedicated shadow process in oracle for each SAP work process. Is it feasible to set SESSIONS_PER_USER=10 in oracle for SAP system?

Hello Expert,

 

Recently we updated our kernel to 720_EXT of patch 500. After upgrade we found that from DB13 no jobs are running and giving error as below:

Previously every thing was working perfect.

 

We are using ERP 6.0 EHP5, ORACLE 11.2, oracle client 11.2 and AIX 6.1

 

Kindly suggest.

Hello

 

I was told it is better to upgrade to 11g from 10.2.0.5 instead of from 10.2.0.4.

So if I understood I have just to run Oracle patchset (./runinstaller) with ora<sid>" user

 

Am I right?

Hello,

I've got one SAP system on Oracle - single Oracle instance without ASM. It has average (user calls average based on 2 months period) 17 000 user calls per second and daily around 2 million dialog steps + 1,5 million of RFC+UPD+BGD steps together.

We are following SAP rules regarding DB parameters and tuning expensive SQL statements (in top 20 selects sorted by DB time we don't have any
select with more than 5 blocks read by each row,  I'm aware that it is not only one criteria, but it is to show that system is being tuned (not that all
are tuned but all of top resource consuming SQLs from cursor cache looks fine) from expensive SQLs perspective. I’m aware that very often expensive SQLs causing very often unnecessary load.

 

Our storage vendor did checks and claims that there are no hot spots on storage and it has a free resources to handle current load twice (IOPs). I would like to know where this configuration could have bottlenecks. Some times (especially when load on db is higher than usual) I see queue and wait times  on dm* devices. Configuration looks in this way:

 

Linux SLES 11 SP1. LUNs configured from OS to storage:

• Oracle parameters align with SAP recommendations (as mentioned above)
• Filesystem ext3 with mount options: rw,noatime,nodiratime,barrier=0 (5 sapdata LUN/fs - 2TB each)
• LVM: 
  lvm2, Metadata Areas 1, Clustered yes, PE Size 4.00 MB
• Linux multipathing is used with configuration:    
  features='1 queue_if_no_path' hwhandler='1 alua' wp=rw  policy='round-robin 0'
• Then lower:
  FC network (2 cards in server, 2 FC switches, 2 Controllers in storage array, storage array 160+ spindle disks + 12 ssd for tiering - no significant waits visible from storage array statistics).

 

Please let me know if you have experience with similar load and Oracle on Linux architecture and what configuration you have or what you would improve for above (please give a hints basing upon your experience)

Due to power failure, SAP server got rebooted.

After starting DB, when tried to start SAP disp+work.EXE is not running.

Hi everyone

I am having a weired issue with BRRestore in our environment. I am running SAP/Oracle on AIX. I take backup and archive  to external system (TSM) using BRTools/RMAN.

 

If I take an online consistent backup level 0, and I attemt to restore it; it works fine, except restoring the archive logs. I never succeeded to restore the most recent logs using BRTOOLS, but I can restore older ones. To restore these logs, I have to use RMAN directly.

 

Any idea or help?

Hi everyone,

 

We have Netweaver 7.0 and Oracle 11g and we are considering to migrate our manual tablespaces to ASSM. The first problem we've found is we can't do that online due to the LONG data type. So we decided to migrate LONG to LOB first. Note 835552 says that for Oracle version 11g the conversion is from LONG to SECUREFILE. But we follow seeking notes and in 1426979 (Oracle 11g: SecureFiles - The new way to store LOB data) one of the prerequisites for the conversion is to use ASSM tablespaces.

 

At this point, we can't migrate (online) to ASSM due to LONG data and neither can migrate to SECUREFILE due to the ASSM.

 

My question is: is it possible to make the migration from LONG to SECUREFILE specifying in the brspace a new tablespace with ASSM?

I am installating oracle 11g and during pre-requisites check i am getting the below errors and warnings.

 

Physical Memory - This is a prerequisite condition to test whether the system has at least 922MB (944128.0KB) of total physical memory.

Error:

 

-	PRKN-1019 : Failed to create directory "C:\Users\ADMINI~1\AppData\Local\Temp\2\\oraremservice\" on node "SOLMAN", Error: "0|Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. " . - Cause: Cause Of Problem Not Available - Action: User Action Not Available

  Details:

 

-	PRVF-7531 : Physical memory check cannot be performed on node "SOLMAN" - Cause:  Could not perform check of physical memory on the node indicated. - Action:  Ensure ability to access the node specified and view memory information.

 

Swap Size - This is a prerequisite condition to test whether sufficient total swap space is available on the system.

Hi All,

 

I knew this question has been asked and answered but i still couldn't find the concrete solution. Any advise is mostly welcome.

 

I've installed Distributed Database on Solaris and CI on Solaris as well. Due to security reason and policies, our customer stop us from using RSH.

 

I've installed standalone gateway in Distributed Database with System Name EGW, system number 20. My SAP and DB name is AEP.

 

gwrd is started using egwadm. TCP_IP connection SAPXPG_DBDEST_DBHOSTNAME works fine, however when i kick off checkDB in DB13, i got the below error:

 

"> Function: BtcXpgPanicCan't exec external program (No such file or directory)"

 

Have i miss out something? Do i need to add any ENV to egwadm or edit the SAPXPG program?

 

fyi, br* and SAPXPG authorization are all set correctly in /sapmnt/AEP/exe. Env for AEPadm in CI is identical to AEPadm in DB server.
